Hi all,
I had fibre (FTTC) installed on the 15th of January and I'm very dissapointed with the speed I'm getting.
For the first 10 days after it was installed I've been getting between 4.75mb and 4.9mb download on both my desktop and iPad. I left the router plugged in for the first 10 days and then switched it off for 35 mins on the 25th after reading threads on this site hoping this may help. Since then I've been getting between 5.1mb and 5.13mb which is better but still a lot lower than the 8.2mb-14.7mb that is the estimated speed my line can handle. On ADSL my expected speed was between 1.5mb and 4mb according to BT and I was getting 3.6mb with AOL/Talktalk.
On January 20th I spent an hour speaking to a very helpful man on the Talktalk technical phone number and he has arranged an engineer to come out on the 18th of February but I was wondeing if an OCE could test my line and tweak anything if possible before then.
Hopefully the following info may help....
My downstream line rate on the router wizard was at 5360 on the 25th and is now at 5420. I forgot to make a note of the number before the 25th.
I have updated my personal info on my profile.
I have not got a second VDSL router to test with.
The speed hasn't fluctuated and I'm not aware of losing connection at all.
This phone line is only used for the internet but I have plugged a phone into it and can't hear any strange noises in the reciever.
My desktop computer is plugged into the router with an eithernet cable.
I'd be very grateful if someone could help me get a more acceptable speed as I'm not sure I can put up with this for the next 18 months!
Guy
