Looking for some advice here, I have already contacted TalkTalk and they are sending an Engineer next Saturday but just wanted to make sure the steps I have taken warrant an Engineer. Plus, it is easier to explain in text rather than over the phone.
Thursday night my internet was fine, Friday morning: nothing. The internet light on my HG835 Super Router was not on and the broadband light blinking for aprox 10 seconds then off for 3 seconds repeating. Going into the Internet Connection Status of the Super Router home page gave me:
DSL synchronization status: Establishing link… / Initializing… (Alternating)
Connection status: Idle
Everything else None or 0
At this point I contacted TalkTalk via phone and explained the problems I had been having. During this phone call I plugged my router directly into the master socket and thus bypassing any extension cables I have. But still the same result so we ended with an Engineer visit being booked as the lady could not see any problem from TalkTalks’ end. Note; I have my line rental through TalkTalk and can make / receive calls fine with no interference on the line.
Since my telephone conversation with TalkTalk I have removed the front cover from my Master socket and plugged a direct connection to the test socket via several different leads / micro-filters but still nothing. I have tried a hard reset (holding reset button down 10s) but nada.
I’d rather not have to fork out the £65 for an Engineer if possibly the router is at fault.
Any advice / help would be gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks
Mike
