HG633 desperately slow WiFi

Hi (Long Rant apologies)

HG633 desperately slow WiFi - by no means Superpowered!

I have discovered this community since I have been having issues with the Huawei Router supplied for my new 18mth contract for FIBRE (40Mb/s) service. For the best part of two months, I have been staggering on with indifferent (WiFi) download speeds ranging from 0 - max 22 Mbps NOT the 38-40 Mbps that I contracted TT to supply!

I have an open issue for this length of time and many many many discussions with the support teams - finally escalating this to the network team, who have yet to contact me!

The BT engineer has visited and confirmed the 40M bearer is OK and the Ethernet cable speed IS better but I NEED WiFi to reach my office from the master box (Upstairs).

TT supplied a new router supposedly to resolve the issue BUT HEY! - IT DOESN'T!

Having read these pages, it is clear there is a problem with the Huawei Routers or HG633….

So WHY? OH WHY! Will not the support team acknowledge this known issue when engaged in conversation with their customer who is suffering with slow WiFi? I have had all the excuses: Interference (Nop!) BT exchange (Nop!), configuration (Nop!), Open Reach master box (Nop!) and so it goes on and on and on and on….

I want to cancel the contract but can’t talk to the accounts dept until the fault is fixed (work that one out!) Also – why an 18 Month contract?

Anyway, the Admin access didn’t work so couldn’t access the set-up. However, after three ‘Resets’ I got in!  So, I have open up the set-up, checking speeds for 2.4 and 5 for each channel - and, guess what... max throughput is around 18- 20Mbps (Variable no obvious trend).

Only solution so far - I have purchased a very very long Ethernet cable to connect my office, which supplies 35Mbp/s. ..not ideal!

Ok Rant over…. Can anybody in the community confirm that the Huawei router has supplied (being generouus) 30+Mbp/s WiFi throughput? Or is this a major issue that TT will not acknowledge, known as a ‘Catastrophic’ product failure in the trade!
