I have recently renewed my TalkTalk contract. Previously I had an 18 month Fibre Broadband contract which was £23.50 a month. From this I was getting actual download speeds of 37.26mbps and actual upload speeds of 7.86mbps. So for both the throughput speeds shown on the router would have been a bit higher than that.
When I renewed I went for another 18 month contract fibre broadband but this time including the fibre speed boost for an extra £2.50 a month meaning I'm now paying £26 a month. This commenced 1st October 2020. I have made no changes to my setup and my router throughput speeds are now showing as 36.2mbps and 7mbps. The actual speeds I am getting are 33.42mbps and 6.42mbps.
When purchasing the speed boost I was under the impression that my speeds would improve and be higher than my previous download and upload speeds before renewing my contract but this has not been the case. I have contacted the support team via live chat 8 days ago where I was advised to monitor the situation as it take a few days for the speed boost to work and also today where they said they have made changes to my setup and my issue has been resolved.
I have checked throughput speeds for both download an upload speeds and they are exactly the same. So I am still facing the same issue
How does this speed boost work? Why is it not increasing my upload and download speeds? It actually looks to be decreasing my upload and download speeds.
I have tried turning of the router for 30 mins and then turning it back on but this didn't have an effect.
I would appreciate if someone could have a look into this and provide me with some information in how to fix this issue.
