Very poor WiFi

Hi

 

I have the Fibre Medium package with a Huawei Hg533 wireless router.

 

It is the wireless aspect that I have the biggest problem with. I have never been able to run my main PC off it (located 7 or so metres away) and so use a home-plug for that. And smart phones only work when within a few metres.

 

We have just received an Amazon Fire Stick and even when no other device is being used the thing is constantly buffering. 

The router is sited near the front door just a few metres from the living room where the TV is.

 

Is it unreasonable to expect to be able to use a Fire Stick without problem? Plus most rooms in the house do not get a good signal (with devices often showing stronger signals from our neighbours that from our own device.

 

I spent some time on the phone with the tech people yeasterday and did everything they asked (change wireless channel, move phone away from router) but our viewing experience was still miserable. 

 

I use a TP link extender in the furthest room if I need to use a device there and that is usually ok.

 

So, am I being unreasonable to expect to use the WiFi throughout the house and not just when sat on the stairs?  I have just started a new contract with them so do you think they should have sent me a new 'Super Router'?
