my router was bought so i could have all the fancy functions on it. it is a linksys 1200ac
(it has openwrt installed)
it was deemed by phone technicians that i could only use the router provided, and to bridge such router.
(nonsence) im online now, without it.
anyways, the problem i have is it is seriously slow at times. (most times to be fair)
i can use it but i find speedtest.net (and the ones provided by talktalk urls) time out,
i mean i sometimes get 4mbit down and 1.2x up
but most tests just time out.
i will mention a few things.
i have windows 10, it has no issues. i fix computers as a trade. so i can guarantee its not a systems issue.
in my previous contract with ee, i was on thier 40mb fibre, and i got nearly the full ammount, and sometimes over such.
on this and thier contract, the router supplied, i dont want to use it. it has/had no use to me.
the router i have works as it should
i found the difference between ee settings and talktalk
(change from the username and password system into just dhcp and the internet comes alive.)
i need to get this speed sorted, i changed over so i can be hassle free.
slow speeds are a big hastle because i took the effort of talking to an outside field sales team to swap over.
im in no need for an apology, only assistance, if you could give me some things i can try
(bearing in mind i have tried quite a lot already)
things tried (not an exaustive list as i may forget to put everything down)
bt wholesale speed test site
speedtest.net
beta.speedtest.net
multiple devices: 5, 4 android devices, 1 windows phone
multiple computers: the desktop im using now, and a laptop (both windows 10, and working as it should)
repairing windows (yes i did infact try things just incase suggestions of computers come into it)
things i did in the repair: tcpoptimizer tool from speedguide.net
a windows command (dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth)
followed up by (Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add
-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} )
i then rebooted both the systems, same issue, slow speeds.
then i went onto the router site to see if anything could be slowing stuff down
(although unlikley as it was already set by me for fibre speeds, minus the swap-over to dhcp setting i did on day one)
other than that, the settings has not given me anything i can see that requires change
as when i first got the fibre with your company, it was quick at 27mbit (but not the full speed)
i now need to ask someone who can look at stuff from outside the house areas.
i hear/read on other posts bt manage fibre profiles, so i dont know who does what in that scenario about fixing things.
but can someone check the line speed? mabye have a look to see if there is any fibre problems in the area?
stuff i know us customers could not see :-)
anything that can help would be most gratefully received and apreciated,
thanks in advance.
p.s the attached file is a test app output provided by your app, i know it (helping me) needs my telephone line number,
but am wary of placing it online so the likes of a search engine can find it etc. lol
ask me privately if u wish for it, thanks.
