I've always disabled the remote update option on my router, figured if it wasn't broke don't fix it. My HG633 "super" router came with the 1.15 firmware. This certainly was never perfect- the 5ghz mode barely worked but I overlooked this because, at the time, I didn't have much equipment that utilised it. But as my tech grows, I thought it was about time I used this extra band. I read that the 1.20 update "addressed issues with the 5ghz band" so decided it was about time I re-enabled the remote update option. But this 1.20 update has now made the 'everyday' 2.4ghz mode worse than the 5ghz ever was. After initial connection all my devices just 'hang' whenever I attempt to go online. Even though the router quite happily reports that it's connected to the internet. And it isn't just the wifi. I have a number of wired connections to the router that are also failing. Netflix on my Talktalk Youview box has become unwatchable. It's not a buffering issue, it just completely loses it's connection. And all this since the 1.20 firmware update. I guess what I'm asking is are we close to getting an update to sort this out? Failing that, is it possible to roll back to my original 1.15 firmware?- better the devil you know!! Thanks for any help that can be offered..
