Fibre speed now slower than ADSL

The router (HG633) has been disconnecting continuously, increasing the interleave depth. There is no noise on the phone line and router logs don't seem to point to anything in particular to cause the dropped link. A network engineer came last Wednesday and described it as a 'network fault' but didn't do anything and since then, it's got worse. It's gone from a solid 38/2 non-interleaved sync to around 6/0.8. Any help would be appreciated.
