Due mainly to pressure from my son, I upgraded to fibre as soon as TT made it available in our area. Financially speaking, a great deal. Actually cheaper than before but now locked in for 18 months.
Go live date was by midnight tonight but it was a pleasant surprise to find it had been done at 9 a.m. today and that we were getting 39997 kbs download and 1999 kbs upload. I now have to get used to the new router's stats and log. I'm used to checking daily on the error seconds but I can't find that anywhere. And I'm not sure what snr figure is best to monitor. Also, the log seems a bit buggy - doesn't seem that display level works properly.
However, quite satisfied so far. Hoping that it is stable and the speeds keep up. Apart from the speeds, I was looking out for the router firmware level and the free (400 etc) sky channels working (which they did not on a previous router). The latter issue was fine and as to the former, when I connected the router last night I saw it was 1.15t which I gather gives a problem with vpn's (which my son makes occsional use of) so I thought I would need to get the upgrade but this happened (automatically?) an hour or so after connection.
Also, I think it's worth saying that I thought I would try a straight swap of router to router without changing any leads, microfilters and keeping it connected by a spur cable running from my master socket. I know that is not recommended, but it was a lot simpler and seems to have worked fine!
So, just thought I'd post as a happy customer (so far! - fingers crossed) as you don't see many of those on here.
