I have an HG633 router which accesses the internet. I have one Windows 7 laptop system which goes through a Netgear switch (switch A) and then through an old HG533 router which is configured as a bridge and then into the HG633 router in Port 1.
Whenever I upload a large video to Facebook from this Windows 7 system, all other PCs' internet activity in my network grinds to a halt.
Specifically, I have another Windows 8.1 PC which goes through a different Netgear switch (switch B) and is directly plugged into the HG633 router in Port 4. My wife uses this and curses me when her internet activity effectively ceases.
In addition, I have another Windows 10 PC, which goes through switch A (shared with the offending laptop upload) and is also plugged into the same HG533 bridge router, and hence then shares the cable onwards to the HG633 router.
Is there anything I can do to load balance the traffic in the HG633 so that all devices get some service? I've looked through all the settings in the router admin screens and can't see anything obvious, but maybe there are "advanced" advanced settings hidden somewhere?
Is the HG633 just very simply taking traffic off its input port 1 before moving on and checking the other ports? i.e. if I were to replug my heavy upload cable connection out of port 1 and into port 4, and replug my wife's PC cable connection into port 1 instead, would that get serviced first?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is causing a domestic breakdown! I just want to be able to put in my video uploads from my laptop and have them trickle away in the background while both my wife on her Windows 7 PC and me on my Windows 10 PC (admittedly network connected via different routes) can get on with our uninterrupted independent internet usage.
