Hey all,
I have been on talktalk large package for over 3 years now with no issue since it was origionally installed.
All of a sudden 3 weeks ago my upload speeds dropped from 7mbps to 0.7mbps.
Unusually the download stayed the same 35mbps respectively.
As a IT networking engineer, its the bread and butter of my job to troubleshoot networking issues.
I have to date tested multiple routers, both my Ausus router and the supplied VDSL huawei routers supplied.
Ofcourse on the LAN cable for testing on multiple devices.
Spwapped openreach faceplate filter and also old type filter into the master socket.
While testing i found that the phone line was pretty bad using a corded phone.
The issue was raised with talktalk of which normal line checks found no issues, a openreach broadband engineer came out and found no issue. Yet the line speeds were still lower than expected.
So a visit from a openreach phone engineer followed of which he confim a issue. A few hours later he found a physical fault in the line and repaired the connection.
The line quality was back to normal, however speeds did not catch up.
After 48 hours had pased from the visit, the upload had not changed and the download has dropped to 29mbps on average "most likely the DLM having a moment"
With the nature of the issue that nobody seems to be able to pin a direct issue down, especially after a physical fault was cleared.
The fault was raised on roughly jan 6th, so 16 days in and the next visit by a talktalk engineer is currently planned for Jan 31st. Potentially 23 days of lower than expected speeds.
This wouldnt normally be a issue but part of my evening work envolves large amounts of upload bandwidth.
If there is anything else that can be looked at from here, it would greatly be appreciated.
