Broadband problem: "Wifi access point and wifi access point are on different wifi channels..."

Can anyone help me with a problem I’ve been having? I have fibre broadband with a HG635 super router and a NetGear A6210 802.11ac USB adapter. The internet connection is poor on my PC, and a message always pops up saying something like “Wifi access point and wifi access point are on different wifi channels. Performance may be degraded.”

When I look at the NetGear adapter network settings, there are 2 networks available, one using “wireless mode AC” and the other “wireless mode N”. For a while, the internet connection improved when I switched from AC to N, but that doesn’t seem to work anymore.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? The HG635 super router is supposed to automatically detect the best channel, and changing modes with the adapter doesn’t seem to work.
