HG633 dropping signal (resolved) !

Here is my 2 cents worth on my experience with the above router.

was with talk talk for 6 years previously, left to go elsewhere but was attracted to their fibre deal so Signed up and new router arrived. Plugged it in and off it went. Speeds have always been good with every provider as I am really close to the exchange. However, the router would disconnect from my laptop, 3 iPads and the Xbox 5-10 times a day, some days more !

i spoke to tech support who checked the settings, told me to wait and see if it improved. I did this 3'times over the next 2 weeks with no improvement. Next call a new router was sent out, same problem. Given I am have been in the same house for 10+ years I knew it could only be an issue with the router as nothing had changed, same wires, router placed in the same cupboard.

I had enough now and escalated it to a manager on the tech support line, another router was sent out, same make and model arrived. Nothing improved so I called the manager back threating to move to another provider. Still adamant it was the router I demanded an engineer visit. That came quickly and an engineer arrived 2 days later with under his arm... Yes you guessed it router number 3 ! Didn't understand why it kept dropping but this router will help. Sure enough it didn't and I was still getting multiple disconnects on all devices daily. So how did I solve it ?

i went on eBay and bought a Thomson router, it was free with a different provider but not needed. Not expensive around £80 new, I got it for £36 inc postage. Talk talk Customer services are gonig to give me a £35 credit on my next bill to cover this.

So here I am, day 3, no errors, not a single disconnect since it was plugged in and my kids don't complain about getting kicked off the internet 10 times every night.. Happy days !

this is the router I bought:
