I just received a phone call claiming to be from TalkTalk about supposed quality issues on my connection such as slow speed and drop outs. However, despite problems in the past I have to say my connection has been 99.9% perfect for months so was immediately suspicious.
Since TalkTalk's security issue in the Autumn I gave thought to how I should react to suspicious calls and developed a protocol for it. Most dodgy calls are so stupid (typically claiming to be from "Windows Security Centre") that I do not need to use it and just have a bit of fun winding up the caller. This was my first call claiming to be from TalkTalk and also the only one to show a number on my phone's display.
It was 0001412550164.
My first question to her was to ask for her full name and immediately she ended the call.
Maybe she thought I was trying to date her!
Stay safe!
