Sooo interest situation.
I was previously with BT infinity (37 down/ 8ms ping)
Recently 'upgraded' to TalkTalk fibre large
Initially 62 down/ 5ms
After 12 days 62 down/ 21ms
I game and really like a low ping, I thought it really strange that all of a sudden getting 21ms ping and a large interleave (1800 down)
Decided that it was the HG633 router that was my problem so bought a new modem/router.
I saw I got really bad wifi so decided to use my old Home Hub as a wireless access point which gave a cabled speed matching my normal talktalk speed with 21ms ping.
3 days later I'm back to 8ms BUT also now only get 37download.
As far as I can see there are two explanations.
1. BT prioritise there own traffic and they can see my HomeHub and DLM think I'm a BT customer so lower my ping but put my profile on my old BT speed. Or,
2. The HG633 was causing connection problems and DLM gave me a huge interleave and my dramatic lose in speed is coincidence.
So are BT allowed to prioritise their customers? If so why is this not explained anywhere and is this even legal (net neutrality)??!!
Or is the HG633 really that bad?
Either way can I have my 62mbs speed back please AND keep my low ping.
Thanks
