Since we had fibre installed in January 2015, our connection has been almost unusable. I am paying for the 30Mbps package, yet even when the connection is working, the fastest speeds are only around the 11Mbps mark and the ping to the nearest server is ridiculously high (often >600ms).
For a year and a quarter we have had intermittent connection issues and slow speeds rendering online gaming impossible, youtube videos unwatchable, and even general web browsing exceptionally slow with some webpages taking upwards of 30 seconds to load and some higher-res images taking over a minute. Also, during outages, facebook messages have failed to send without me realising, leading to some awkward situations...
Countless hours have been spent trying to fix the problem both over the phone and online. with various pingtests and traceroutes being performed and some tweaking at your end. For a period of about two weeks in March 2015, everything seemed to work perfectly after some fixes at your end, but that did not last. We have also had 2 or 3 engineer visits over the past year with the same comments - apparently our hardware is overloaded, with fibre optic cabling going to the access point in the street, but only copper wire beyond that. There has also been talk of us recieving the 80Mbps package inadverntantly and, because our router is meant to be for the 30Mbps package, that is causing the overloading and resulting issues. After the most recent engineer visit (which was free as part of an upgrade), I sent data back to the fault-specific email address, yet have not heard anything back - this visit took place late last year.
However, whether this is a problem with talktalk or the BT infrastructure, as I mentioned before there has been a period where it was working perfectly so I believe there is a solution to this.
I'm wondering where this can go from here as this is very frustrating
Thanks,
Chris

Extremely poor service (constant connection dropouts, very slow speeds & high ping etc.) for >1 year
