Dead Router

Hopefully someone on here might be able to help. I am a new customer service is due to go live tomorrow 22/10/15 and thought I would setup my new router ready but it appears the new router I have received is dead. I know the power socket im using is working as my current sky router is working fine. I have checked  the power button on the side and that is pressed in the on position from what I can tell. The router to me appears to be completely dead.

 

I called talktalk tech support and they weren't very helpful saying there is nothing they can do until tomorrow when my service goes live. I won't have a service tomorrow if I don't have a working router! Not a good first impression.

 

Any suggestions? Does anyone from talktalk read these forums?
