intermittent very slow broadband speed
Since October last year. Speed varies from 12Mbps to 0.04Mbps. I got better speeds with the dial-up prior to BroadBand being introduced. I have spent many hours waiting for and talking to TalkTalk about the issue. I have had visits from a "bright spark" and 3 separete Openreach engineers. Like the vw diesel emission scandal, the speed is different when under test conditions and then deteriorates again a few days later. It seems to have software that detects that it is being tested and speeeds up ithe outcome..
Talktalk say that it is within limits for "Medium Fibre". Openreach say that the fault is due to TT, even though they are paid to sort out the cable issues. TT say that the line has limited capability.
One Talk Talk guy says I should expect a minimum of 17Meg, the next one says that 12 Meg is the best I should hope for and 10Mbps is acceptable. On a bad day (0.04 meg) you can make a cup of tea whilst a page loads up and the little bleue line traverses the screen.
The fact that many Talktalk contacts have very limited linguistic skills makes the communication process very difficult. Meanwhile I am increasingly feeling that I am paying for a service that is not being provided by TalkTalk.
Very frustrating!
