I have an ongoing issue with my sky demand dropping out on a regular basis on one of my Sky HD boxes. (there are 2 permanently connected to the network) Every 3 - 4 weeks the SKY HD box loses its connection to the router. It is directly connected with a CAT 5 cable. Reset the SKY box and the connection is re established. In addition I have a wireless repeater using a Linksys power line wireless extender. If a mobile devise is connected directly to the router wireless and then moves out of range of the router but into range of the wireless repeater it attempts to connect to the router but fails. it seems the router fails to allocate an IP address. If the power adaptor is power cycled the mobile devise will connect to the router OK. The router is a HSG533. I am suspecting that there is a problem with the DHCP function on the router. I have a complicated set up which involves the router being connected to 2off 8 port switches, plus one power line adaptor. The power line adaptor has 2 slave adaptors one acting as a wireless extender. I have 8 devices PC, network drives , printers and Sky boxes permanently connected to the network. Then there are 4 phones and 2 laptops and a tablet that use the wifi regularly. Plus a multi room speaker set up. I have tried using fixed IP address, changing the IP lease times non of which have worked. I am now considering moving to SKY broadband as I did not have these problems when I use their equipment. If there are know problems with the DHCP server function I am happy to buy a new router and switch of the DHCP function in the talktalk router.
