Fibre Large But Only Fibre Medium Speed

I have Fibre Large but am only getting Fibre Medium speed.......

So i rang TT and said as i was only getting Fibre Medium speed I may as well go on to medium and save £5 a month.

I was then surprised when the operator said if i do my speed would drop to only 16 Meg.

I  was under the belief that TT would give you the fastest speed your line could handle for your package and as i am only getting 29 Meg and medium is 38 meg i presumed it would be ok.

I have stayed on Large and been given discounted line rental for 6 months to cover the extra cost, but would still like to know if what i was told is right and if it is why.
