We have very recently purchased the Fibre medium package from TalkTalk and on Thursday the 22nd of October we were able to connect up to fibre. At first, as expected the WiFi speeds were 35-40mbps. However, this went down over the coming days, which is okay. I understand that the speeds are unstable and need levelling out. However, for the past couple of days the WiFI speeds have been totally unaccteptable. I've been doing speed checks left, right and centre because I do not trust talktalk with their advertised speeds. And boy, was I right not to trust them. I've literally have just done another speed test after doing one five minutes ago to see if any changes have been made but nope, nothing. Still the same speed, which is actually lower than what we got before we purchased the package. The speed we are currently getting right now, to my laptop, wirelessly is 3.47mbps download and 1.30mbps upload. I understand that you lose speeds while using wireless technology, but you don't lose 20-30mbps, especially when I'm connect to a Netgear extender which is 2 metres away from me. This is far from an isolated incident, my Xbox One which is connected to the extender via Ethernet only gets about 11mpbs download and about 1.3mbps upload.
This is totally unacceptable and I sincerely hope that this is a line fault which will get sorted ASAP because if these are the speeds that we're going to receive when we should be receiving at minimum 15-20mbps, than we shall be cancelling our contract and leaving TalkTalk and wont ever look back.
