Hello All.
Last week I upgraded to TalkTalk Fibre. It all works fine, I am happy with it and I am getting good speeds etc.
However, there is one issue. All my Andriod devices and PC, phones, tablets etc, now show my location on Google Maps as a few hundred miles away up North in a place called Southwold. I have done some forum reading and this appears to be a common problem. Google collects WiFi data (SSID & MAC address) to help with location services. Sometimes (for whatever reason) there is a blip and the MAC address is recorded at the wrong location. So when I am in range of my home WiFi it thinks I am in Southwold and not at home. VERY annoying for all those apps that read location data. So, I know how to access my router and all that stuff and I changed my SSID. Problem still the same. I have read that changing the MAC address of the router will force Google to update the locationon its servers, thus fixing the issue. I cannot see any options to do this on the TalkTalk router. This leaves me with two questions: 1) Can I change the MAC address on my router? and 2) How do I do that?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
