Broadband router dripping connections and intermittent performance

Hi,

I have been with TalkTalk for a while now and had addequate, but not fantastic, broadband performance.  I upgraded to fibre and have been dissapointed with the results.  This seems to stem from the router which drops wireless connections and seems to have very sluggish performance, particuarly with tablets and phones.  In fact, I sometimes turn off the wifi on my phone and use the phones data connection instead which can be faster.

Also, I have a wireless access point device connected to the router via ethernet which creates a secure wireless network for my work laptop and this seems to have much better performance than the talktalk network (I have tried disconnecting this device BTW and it doesn't affect the peformance of the talktalk network).  TalkTalk have supplied a new router, but this has not changed the outcome.

I am thinking of buying a third party router/modem but don't want to waste money, so is there anything that can be done here?  I have attached a screenshot (although this forum doesn't allow me to attach jpgs??) of the router screen and run a speedtest this morning which has given a download speed of 29.91.
