I had a new super router yesterday which I installed myself.
It all works fine with :
- my desktop about 4 years old and running windows 10.
- Samsung S7 edge
- Iphone 6
- Samsung tablet
- Lenovo B50 laptop
The problem I have my wife's laptop, a lenovo an idea pad, running windows 8.1 about 18 months old just will not connect.
If I reconnect the old router and open reach box it connects immediately.
Reconnect the new HG633 and it will not connect to wifi.
I have tried, restarting the laptop, uninstalling the netword card, telling the network connections to forget the connection, cleaning out my cache, setting up a new ssid from the router homepage as per instructions I found on here, but the laptop fails to see this ssid, but is it seen by our phones and tablet. Changing the frequency of the new ssid. Disabled my anti-virus (avast).
I've run out of ideas, the broadband and router obviously work ok, as all the other items work ok, I just need a networking guru to give me some ideas on what settings might be upsetting the connection.
I spent an hour on live chat, which was a waste of time, she had less idea than me. I spent 30 minutes on the phone and they went through all the same things and ended up by saying it was the lenovos fault I needed to speak with them to find out what settings I need to change.
