This evening and on and off for the past couple of months my internet has been dropping out for 3 to 5 minutes at a time.
Seemingly out of nowhere while scrolling down Facebook random images will appear broken, or unloaded. The connection will then completely die and I'll receive errors in google chrome like DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET for anywhere up to 5 minutes. Obviously as this is happening at the only internet point for my network, every device is affected.
All the lights stay solid or flashing as they should except the Internet light which comes back eventually along with the connection.
I have tested my connection with a HG633 and with a third party TP-LINK TDW9980 due to other technical issues with the 633 that I tried pursuing earlier this year and gave up on.
The router in my network is not the issue. I've extensively troubleshot this problem on a seemingly brand new HG633 and my TP LINK router, it is the same for both.
The issue persists regardless of DNS server too. I have used TalkTalk's own and Google's own DNS setups and get the same issue.
It's worth noting the last time I tried to chase this up an Openreach engineer came to my home and checked my wiring which came back OK. I was charged £65 for that and the issue still exists. I suspect the issue is on your side or on the BT side of the network, but the point is be it Openreach or TalkTalk - it's fairly well established that engineers from either company can't help me.
Please check my connection analytics for unexpected downtimes so you can figure out why my connection is dying all the time.
