Today was my GO LIVE date for fibre an upgrade long in the waiting following many years as a broadband customer, at 1030 my internet connection ceased ready for the rapid transition to fast fibre and then my problems started.
So at the end of the day, after 60 minutes talking to a nice gentleman on the tech desk and after running throughthe standards checks that apparantly solve 8 out of 10 connection problems and being told i would need an engineer visit to fix it, then a 15 minutes sessions with the customer retention team, not sure how i got there but they decided to send me a new super router out which would fix all my problems, i'm left with an irate wife and 2 teenager kids who have been within internet most of the day and are getting very vexed, just what did we do before the internet eh!
Not withstanding this, it appears my working broadband of this morning is gone, i now have a huawei hg533 router connected directly to the adsl master socket, excellent working home network but no internet, the adsl led is just flashing green and my tv internet channels are hiding and nothing can connevt to the internet, currently using my mobile as a hotspot, not quite fibre i can tell you.
Questions spring to mind while i have been reading the ptoblems of what seems like a lot if people in the community, did i do something wrong, i was expecting a straight forward upgrade, but alas no, i have powered off my router, reset it and even moved the cable between the adsl socket and the fibre socket to no avail, is the hg 533 just too old and will my nes super router fix the problem, or as hinted at in the posts, is it something that talktalk or the open reach engineer who was at the exchange today didn't do.
I'd be real grateful for any hints or checks or do i just need to let the router acquire the fibre signal, or wait for the new router or start crying now!
