In light of the TalkTalk price increases I am considering starting a new 18 month contract, still with TalkTalk, to save money. However, I am reluctant to comit to another contract as my download speed has fallen from 16.8Mbps in January to 10.7Mbps now. The latest tests were using an ethernet connection, wireless turned off and all other devices disconnected.
I spoke to customer support yesterday who seemed to think that 11Mbps was as fast as my line can manage but could not explain the drop in speed. I then spoke to an engineer yesterday who has sent me another HG633 router but this has made no difference. He also suggested trying connecting to the test socket but this too had no effect.
Is the drop in speed likely to be due to TalkTalk or is the problem with my telephone line which is the responsibility of Open Reach?
