FTTC Down Time

A month ago I changed my plan from ADSL to VDSL. With ADSL I didn't experience any down time.  My router always reported many hundreds or 1,000 hours or more up time.  The only down time I did have was due to physical faults on the line about twice a year.

Since changing over to the VDSL, Super Fast package I experience down time, late at night.  For example, reading the log on my router the other day, I see:

Nov 11 00:42:38 192.168.2.1 DrayTek: WAN 1 is down.
Nov 11 02:40:02 192.168.2.1 DrayTek: WAN 1 is up.

It would seem the router was forcibly disconnected with no errors.  The physical connection re-established about 20 seconds later but the router waited 2 hours for an IP address from DHCP.  This means down time for 2 hours.

This problem is not isolated to one router and the problem is still there if I change over to one of another make.

I also do not believe it to be due to a fault on the line and the down time always occurs in the early hours of the morning.

This unreliability is inconvenient when we rely so heavily on our internet connection.

Is there a way I can be alerted of this down time before it happens please?

Many thanks.
