I have just checked the BT Openreach website and discovered that fibre has recently been enabled to my local cabinet. I am keen to upgrade as soon as possible, as I am currently getting around 0.95Mbps (against a TalkTalk promise of 17Mbps, but that's another story).
When I go to "Offers & Upgrades", I get this message:
"Fibre broadband is not available.
We can't bring Fibre to your area right now - but we're expanding our UK network all the time. In the mean time you can still enjoy our unlimited fast broadband package. Unfortunately TV is not available in your area."
First part of the question: I appreciate that it takes some time for records to be updated with external information. I asked about this on Chat, but was told that they cannot give me any information on how long it usually takes. Is anyone here prepared to offer a (non-committal) estimate?
Second part of the question: How can I check what my *actual* Fibre speed (as opposed to TalkTalk's theoretical maximum) would be prior to signing up?
