Shocking speeds

So, signed up to TalkTalk as it was apparently one of the better providers when i found out i wouldn't be able to get VirginMedia at my new house.

Been here 3 months now and the internet speeds shockingly fluctuating a lot. Signed up for "superfast broadband" with a compulsory landline for roughly the same price as i was paying for 150Mb/s VM. No biggie though, they're a bit of a one off company using coax to the premises.

Problem is though, I apparently have a 45Mb/s line, which would be pretty reasonable and manageable, but since when did congestion times mean your line drops to somewhere in the range of 500Kb/s connection?

I have an important project file to download from a client, to do a lot of work on and then send to him tonight, and yet said file is currently downloading at 50KB/s.... not cool talktalk, not cool.

Will the Fallowfield area of Manchester be getting any sort of upgrade soon? Or is there a repair underway or a fault known, or do i just have to deal with this quality of service?

If things are showing up fine on TalkTalk's end though (my router is still saying the downstream is roughly 45Mb), is there something else i should look in to that could be causing this rubbish connection?

Any help appreciated
