I had Fibe Medium installed on 30th November.
The router connection status showed Upstream Line Rate was around 2300 Kbit/s and Downstream approx 22500 Kbit/s. Channel Type was set to FAST. I'm not sure what interleave depth was. Wireless speedtests showed downloads at 18.89 Mbps and uploads at 1.98 Mbps. The connection was rock solid for about 3 to 4 days.
I then had to set up a few wireless devices in the house and had to reboot the router 2 or 3 times within an hour. The router showed the Upstream Rate dropped to approx 1300 Kbit/s and the download to approx 19000 Kbit/s. The wireless speedtests showed a small reduction in speed but nothing significant. The Channel Type was still FAST. Interleave depth was 1 for both Upstream and Downstream.
This morning I checked the Connection Status of the router again and noticed it had disconnected during the night. On reconnecting the Upstream Line Rate had risen to 1995 Kbit/s and the Downstream to 23306. However, the Channel Type is now Interleaved and the Upstream Interleave Depth is 33 and Downstream is 1355. I ran several wireless speedtests this morning and now I am only achieving maximum speeds of 10.03 Mbps download but upstream is good at 2.32 Mbps.
I'm not very happy about this change in the connection profile. I can't understand how the connection can be rock solid and then all of a sudden disconnect twice in 2 evenings. I understand that when I rebooted my router a few times it may have affected the connection profile slightly but instead of getting better over the next few days the connection has dropped twice of its own accord and the speeds achieved are getting worse. I've read on a few forums that FAST is preferable to INTERLEAVED as interleaved can cause lag. Can the Fibre profile be reset as if the installation was new?
Thanks.
