HG633 - Uploading files causing dramatic download speed issues

Hi,

I have another open thread, but i believe my issues now (apart from a couple of things) are completely different to what i originally opened the other thread for, hence starting a new thread.

After experiencing issues, lately i noticed a trend so i have put this to the test and i have confirmed that:

For some reason, whenever i upload ANYTHING from any device, wired or wireless, my download speed is dramatically decreased and sporadic. I have been testing this theory for the past few days and confirmed it this morning. This morning, on a wired connection i ran a speed test. The download shows an almost straight line on the graph giving around 37.5Mbps which is great, upload is a little up and down but normally finishes around 2Mbps, again - great!

Then i started an upload. For this mornings test i ran a backup to iCloud from my iPhone but the same has occurred on other occasions such as uploading a video to youtube from my laptop on a wired connection. When running an upload and then doing a speed test, the download starts at around 3-4Mbps and after a lot of jumping around will end between 8-16Mbps. During this, the upload is always low (as expected because i'm uploading) yet it has a perfectly steady speed as shown in the graph. I would have expected some movement. I then cancelled my iCloud backup (upload) and ran another speed test. Straight away everything was stable and my speeds were back to max.

Either way, from the above info and the attached screen shots you can clearly see a massive difference in speed and consistency between the normal speed test and the one run during an upload. Now surely, upload and download should be able to run side by side without affecting each others performance? So can anyone help out with fixing this please?

Also, i mentioned the HG633 router in the title because i'm interested to see whether or not anyone else has this issue and maybe hasn't noticed? Would one of you kind members mind sparing 5 minutes to test this for me to see if you also experience this? I would recommend uploading a file which will take around 10m or more and then running the speed test 5m into the upload.

Thanks,

Nick
