Hello, joined recently after looking at the options out there. Wanted the larger fibre allowance as the kids want to play their games and we could watch the movies/sports package.
TT and other providers all told us we could expect between 46 and 71mb download, and the other compare sites and speed test sites confirmed this.
Quite disappointed to discover when we went live, that we could not get over 38mb on downloading, it actually averages about 33mb, with a download on average of 12+mb (hit 20mb on a few occasions!)
On speaking to a nice chap in India,(and some what seems to be the basic tests completed) he advised there was nothing TT could do, as that was all our line could support and advised I needed to call back and speak to the loyalty department with a view to moving from large to medium fibre. But if we waited it may improve in the next few months?
He advised the problem was the distance from the exchange to our property
However he also advised on fibre medium this would mean we could expect only to get about 20mb download (and obviously only 2mb upload)
I don't understand this. I thought with fibre the issue was not from the exchange, but from the street cabinet to our property.
Also if TT can not provide what they advertised on the fibre large package, why if we moved to fibre medium it would be a lot less than the 38mb for fibre medium
I would have thought if we have fibre medium then we could expect it to perform up to the maxium our line can support (i.e. that we are already experiencing on fibre large an average of 33mb)
Being an older non techie person, I don't get this. My kids have advised their friend about 7 houses further down the street on fibre medium gets 35mb on average
Would love to hear from the more IT savy people thier advice and thoughts on this one please.
Thanks in advance
