Faulty modem delived - likelyness high - fibre on date Tuesday

I've got a go live date of this Tuesday 22nd for fibre medium ( FTTC ) and I've had a new modem/router delivered but I'm also on TalkTalk ADSL2+ and have had no prolbems with my previosly supplied TalkTalk modem which was a D-Link.

The trouble is on my old modem I was getting speeds of 5.3mbit down and on the new modem I'm getting 3.8mbit and my SNR has droped from 6.0 with the old modem to between 6.9 and 7.1 on the new modem, now this isnt the worrying part as fibre is being sutup on tuesday.

But where were concerned is what the fact that now with the new modem plugged in we are getting a poor telephone connection with a background hissing sound which doesnt happen when i plug in the old modem back into the same cable filter and socket so its no fault with the cabling inside the house or the filter or the phone or the master socket as these are not any issue with the older d-link modem supplied by talktalk.

ive tried two different filters and both the newly supplied cable and my own purchased cable both have the same result and dont clean up any would appears to be interfereance caused by the modem.

I even just tried to make a call and it said sorry there is a fault i tried a moment later and it was working fine.

im sure im also hearing a high pitch whine come from the modem after its been switched on my parents are unable to hear this but im certain im hearing something once plugged in and switched on. im thinking this is a faulty device and a replacement is in order.

Please can you send me out a new one and once ive checked the replacement i will return the faulty modem to talktalk in the bag provided with the faulty box. or is there something i can buy to remove the interferenace thats only appearing with the new modem plugged in.

But then my concern is if its giving out a dirty return signal that i would loose speed on fibre as im loosing speed right now on adsl connection, so i think its best a replacement to be sent out and as were coming upto christmas many days without delivery as 25th is christmas 26th boxing day 27th sunday 28th bank holiday no delivery can be made to the 29th at ealiest that sending out a replacement ahead will be the best option and for me to backup the settings on the router and transfer the settings to the new one.

I'm upset that improper QA was made on the modem before sending to me it's clearly that if the cables and filter and master socket with the old modem work clear and crystal perfect with the phone and with the new modem has a background interferance and loss of speed the hardware supplied is at fault. the SNR on the old modem d-link steady 6.0 down and 6.3 up on the new one the down jumps between 6.5 and 7.1 when turning on but mostly 7.0 im getting a loss in download speed the up is a steady 5.8 so im getting better upload. the line profile isnt at fault as the old modem managed very well with this with no drop outs and no loss in consistant speed. the new hardware is an issue here and i just want to make that clear as possible.

I dont want to have to go to a shop to buy hardware for something that should have been supplied to me in a fit state ready for the fibre on date.

I will be quite happy to put up with the distortion for a week but a replacement must be put in the post tomorrow if it were to arrive in time for christmas. I do hope someone here can help as were excited for tuesday but now dissapointed in the hardware provided appears to be having an effect on our phone and drop in adsl speed.

what we are wondering is with the fibre is it likely that the modem doesnt cope well with adsl and once fibre mode is on might that fix all this? We are doubtful and yet hopeful that fibre mode may solve the problem.

The older d-link does have a seperate fibre socket but the connector type looks like an RJ45 type of socket but the cable I have along with filter is an RJ11 I believe. Now if I can get an adaptor that will take the RJ11 cable and make it fit in the old modems fibre socket that would be awesome!

Any recommendations on things to try or will fibre on resolve the issue or recommendations on things to buy too anything as were coming upto christmas posting days are limited.

Would an RJ11 to RJ45 work for the old talktalk modem?

Old modem DSL-3780 which as a dedicated fibre port where as the new router is a combo port HG633 model from talktalk-super-router-hg633
