I've got problem...
Dare I start another thread on the HG633 appalling Wifi performance
Oops , looks like I have .
Historically on my Second Modem, as already moaned and got another one sent .
And as usually exactly the same., terrible
So unless we have 5 phones 3 laptops a Sky Box and now a Smart Tv all with reception problems ,the common denominator will be the Router. .
Wifi reception is amazingly poor , I thought Our old Plusnet supplied router was a bit duff but this Talktalk one out duffs it by a fair margin..
Stand in the same room ( within a few feet)and resonable, but wander anywhere else in the home and getting a signal is potluck.
From all the other messages about this sort of thing, points to it being firmly inTT's court to sort out ! .
My layout doesn't lend itself to a LAN setup without drilling lots of holes in walls, so not going that way until its a last resort. and really relucctant to splash out cash on an alternative router, esp as TT will wash their hands of any support .
Mini whinge over.. any clues peeps.
Has anyone fitted any external Antennae on thier 633 to help the ailing wifi ?

Falling Fibre speeds
Hi,
Over time I have noticed my connection fibre speed drop from 28Mb (dec 2014) to 20Mb (Jan 2016) and from 21 September it have now dropped at 16Mb.
When I first took out the service it promised a minimum of 25Mb.
BT Openreach claims from the address checker.
VDSL Range A (Clean) | 32.4 | 23.6 | 7.2 | 5.5 | -- | Available |
Can you please advise how you plan to bring my speed back to where it should be?
The following image shows performance over time since Oct 2013 when it was quite resonable now it it very poor.
Please can you advise when you can provide a suitable fix?
The following image is what BT are offering. Seems like I need to move providers.
Look forward to hearing back from you.
Check my speeds
Hi Talk Talk,
I used to be on Fibre Large and got around 55Mbps speeds, I then downgraded to Medium for a few months and recently upgraded back to large. I was getting 47Mbps, which I thought after a few days DLM would kick in and the speeds would go back to around 55, however looking today they have dropped to 44Mbps.
The max downstream in the router is showing as 65Mbps, so should be able to get above what I'm getting.
Can you have a look at my speeds, and see if you can give them a nudge back in the right direction.
Cheers
Jon

Fibre Issues
Hi,
Recently upgraded to fibre with mixed results:
Good News: Fibre connection at 40mb and seems rock solid
Bad News: Wireless is terrible (dropped packets, errors etc.) VPN connection also doesn't work anymore.
Router is HG633 - firmware is 1.15t. Is there a firmware update available to rectify these issues? - if not then I will need to look at purchasing a 3rd party router.
Thanks
v1.21 Router firmware..
Afternoon all,
Noticed that my router has been updated to v1.20..
Only noticed because I am having no end of issues with connection dropping when online, whether it be cable or Wi-Fi ( Wi-Fi actually worse.. Better to use my 4G than Wi-Fi )
Firmware 1.15 was bad enough, but now it's gone from bad to worse! I believe there may be another firmware update available? Version 1.21? Could that be pushed / installed on my router to see if that alleviates the connection issues? From what I have read, it seems to make a difference to some routers and connection issues..
With thanks.. :-)

Upgrade fibre boost slow
Hi all
Just upgrades to 76meg fibre boost £5 a month , but only
getting 44meg had 37meg on fibre medium .So a few
questions
1/ Have I a problem with my line ?
2/ Is 44meg the maximum speed my line will work at ? only
400 meters from the cab
3/ If 44meg is the maximum speed how do I cancel this
boost ? Says you can opt in or out a month at a time
but can not see an uncheck button in my account/boosts
Thanks for the help in advance
Fibra large speed and vectoring
I've just upgraded to fibre large from fibre medium and I'm a little disappointed that my router is only syncing at 59Mbit/s (it says the maximum is 71Mbis/s). I'm only 150m from the cabinet so I'm thinking that this is due to crosstalk from other lines rather than the length of the cable. I've read that there is a technique called vectoring that can be used to address this. Do TalkTalk support this and can I find out if it has been enabled in my cabinet?
It's not the biggest problem in the world but it's annoying that I'm so close to the cabinet but only get half of the increase I paid for.
Fibre connection is down since Friday
Despite the service status dashboard indicating that there are currently no faults, when i call up regarding my braodband i am greeted with a message informing that you are aware of an issue that will make my broadband "not very good" and I will be informed via text once its resolved.
Well, my connecting is not just "not very good" its non existant. I have a gree flashing light on the router and no connection at all, cannot navigate to any site on any device.
I can accept the fact that there is an issue, but id like to know what the issue is and what the expected time of resolution is? And what the actual issue is?
I work from home so rely on my internet to be able to perform my job and i am currently having to use my mobile phone as a hotspot to work, which only has a limited amount of data on the plan.
SNR margin drops early in morning
Hi,
I have had fiber for just over a month, the original TalkTalk HG633 was resyncing several times a day, often between 4-7am. Over the first couple od weeks the sync speed dropped from 23M down to 15M. I bought an unlocked HG612 and used that to monitor the connection and I found that the SNR margin (attached or here) varied a lot throughout the day with it dropping early in the morning and when it is damp outside. The Sync with the HG612 has been a lot more stable and has stayed above 22Mb.
I have had a look on mydslwebstats.co.uk and I can't see anyone with a similar SNRM profile, do I have a bad line? Is it out of spec.
thanks
john
Wireless Errors
Hello,
I am having a huge number of wireless errors which are causing problems using devices such as my wireless rinter and Sky On Demand. They are also a constant pest whilst online.
Can you fix this please. I am paying for a product that I can't really use!

1.20 Firmware dropping wifi, dropping WAN and VPN issues
Though we all had high hopes for 1.20 it appears to be worse than all its predecessors. Previously VPN was my primary problem but now 1.20 has added to that constant WAN disconnects (TR609 among others every ~15 minutes) and also WiFi disconnects.
As I have mentioned in other posts, I work remotely, from home, over the internet. This means VPN is critical but even more critical is a persistent internet connection. It baffles me that there has been so much difficulty in delivering this service since I became a customer in January.
Extreme line instability
Our internet service keeps dropping out. This has been going on for some time intermittently including noise on the telephone line.
Yesterday we phoned in to report the noise on the telephone line and the automated system looked at this and reported that it had been fixed (INC000014199163) and we did hear an improvement and get three hours when we didn't notice any drops of the internet service.
However, today it's just as bad as ever.
The router log (which goes back 6 hours at this point) shows that the DSL link has gone down 9 times in that period. This was with the router SNR margin set to 18dB (which is very high and has not had any effect, except to lower the down data rate as you would expect).
As we have FTTC we think that this is a problem between the house and the cabinet. In response to a previous fault we had an Openrach engineer inside the house and he rewired our sockets and we are currently running straight out of the Openreach socket which has only the router and one phone base unit plugged into it and nothing else at all.
Fibre large connection showing as upto 38MB Max on Router - Profile has been changed. Please help!!
Hello Support,
My internet speeds have halved in the last week and after a bit of investigation I noticed that my connection is being throttled to 38MB upload and 12 Mb download. My Fibre large connection should be upto 76Mb download and 20 Mb Upload. The screen below shows the confirmation of the 38Mb/12MB throttled connection. Could someone please put me back on the right profile as I need the correct speed back to ASAP. Thanks.

Fibre connection keeps dropping
Hi.
For the past few days my fibre connection has been dropping and it is incredibly frustrating, I have tried everything and have seen alot of people have similar problems to mine so I decided to make a topic.
One minute the connection is fine but then it will drop at any time and won't come back for around 5 - 10 minutes. I would appreciate any help I can get with this.
Thanks.
