Upgraded from fibre medium to large.

i was thinking of moving to BT infinity as my contract is up for renewal and they are offering £100 cash back and a starting speed of 54Mb on a 12 month contract.

I was offered a reasonable deal on talktalk fibre large with which I have 20 day's to cancel.

As you can see from the Ookla speed tests below my download speeds at the backend of 2015 were very good but decreased as we went into 2016. (Approx 4Mb quicker on a wired connection).

My fibre large package started on Monday and you can see I'm only getting a few Mbits quicker than what I was getting when I was on the medium package in 2015.

My question is. would I get better speeds with BT? Image may be NSFW.

TalkTalk Business 3rd Party Router Configuration

Hi Guys,

I must have read through every single post on here and could not get my new router configured correctly so in the end I went into the TalkTalk router admin and then into the Internet or WAN configuration page. When the page loads I clicked edit to bring up all the hidden fields that can't be seen when simply viewing the WAN connection!! Very important that you click edit to view the detailed information! This must be a U.I. design shortfall.

Anyway the important bits you need to get are:

TRANSFER MODE: VDSL WAN OR PTM

CONNECTION TYPE: IP ROUTING (PPP) or PPPoE

VLANID: 101
802.1p: 2

PPP INFO
PPP authentication mode: auto
PPP trigger mode:Always online

Now for the tricky bit. You need to find your username and password. I used the right click option in chrome and clicked inspect over the input fields to get the details.

The username on my router was:

autoconfig@talktalkbusiness.net

The password can be found in axactly the same way.

Put all these details into your new router and you will be connected! Without the NAT loopback issue if you got a good router Image may be NSFW.

My Fibre is slower than copper

Hi,

I have recently upgraded from copper to fibre and speeds have gone backwards also, currently getting 3mb which can dip to 2.5mb during the evenings. I live out in the sticks so I am not expecting amazing speeds but would expexct to be getting more than 3mb and think needs looking at as the line in to the house was installed just over 2 years ago so cant be na issue there. I have logged into the router and its confirmed as VDSL:

Line Quality
Upstream line rate (kbit/s): 889
Downstream line rate (kbit/s):3077
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 6.1
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 6.3
Upstream interleave depth: 1
Downstream interleave depth: 1
Line standard: VDSL2
Upstream line attenuation (dB): 17.8
Downstream line attenuation (dB): 30.8
Upstream output power (dBm): 0.4
Downstream output power (dBm): -7.9

When do I get Super Router

Hi,

I have just renewed/moved onto new packages. As part of this I was told that I will be entitled to a new Super Router. I notice it says on the dashborad mr order is complete as I already have fibre just changing to a new package. It doesn't mention sending me the router. When will I get it, is it automatic?

Firmware update request for hg633

Fibre Broadband and Changing my mind.

Been a customer for many years and my current contract was due to expire on November 2016. (Simply Broadband and line rental @ £17.70 per month). On the 23rd September I upgraded to Fibre and agreed £22.70 a month for 18 months, I was told I had a 20 day cooling off period. Today, Day 19 I received an email advising me of a forthcoming price increase. I called customer service and asked to remove my Fibre broadband order and revert back to my old plan, this is where the problems begin.... They have said I cannot remove Fibre and even if I did I'm now in an 18 month contract. I called back 4 times and finally after 50 minutes I was told I could remove fibre from my account but my simply broadband package was no longer available and I could get the faster broadband package at £18.75 per month (more than I was paying before). I said it was agreed when I chose the upgrade that I was told I could change my mind within 20 days, this is not the case. I've also been forced onto a new 18 month contract with/without Fibre because I started an order on 23rd September, and because I've changed my mind about Fibre I have an 18 month contract. What are my options apart from leaving with no penalty because of the price increase?, which I guess they'll say I've accepted because I asked to remove Fibre.

Why can't you add phone boosts with a fibre upgrade pending?

Hi,

I have been with TT, and Tiscali before that, for almost 15years and apart from one idiot operator closing my account when there was a database error 9 years ago things have always been good. So when I saw that fibre was available in my area I signed up to upgrade my existing broadband to fibrelarge which I did on September 9th. Soon a new router arrived and a go-live date of 19th September, happy days all looked good. Then the 19th comes and goes without an upgrade, hmmmm. Contacted TT, got the BT Openreach spiel, and got a new date of October 10th. 31days from sign up to go-live was not totally unreasonable so I waited.

In the mean time I realised that I didn't have the phone boost active and my phone calls mounting up. So I tried to add the phone boost and discovered that the system will not let me add the boost because of the pending order. So I wait until 10th October, avoiding using the phone as much as I can, and still no go-live..... I try to add the boost again and still can't due to the pending order. I contacted TT again and no one can add the boost for me but a new date of 19th October has been mentioned for go-live and the team will contact me on that day, why I don't know. So my phone bill is rising and the system won't let me do a thing about it until the fibre actually goes live, really?

The only way I can see this playing out is that I cancel my fibre upgrade, add the boost and then sign up again which will push me to the back of the queue.

It's not as if I want to add something to the pending fibre package I want to add it to my phone. If the go live gets pushed out again then I will be even more out of pocket due to the lack of flexability programmed in when the system was designed which I don't think I should be penalised for do you?

Upgrade to super router

Hello,

I have been with TalkTalk since they took of Tascali.  I am currently on the fiber package and have just taken out a new 18 month contract.  I was wonderingif it would be possible to upgrade my router?  I have the first router that TalkTalk supplied, so I have the BT modem and the white router.

I believe my existing router is the Huawei HG53

I was just looking to see if it can be upgraded, or will it be upgraded automaticly with the new fiber package I have ordered?  I was on fiber before I renewed my package.

Thanks,

Stephen

Slow fibre speeds

I have fibre med with you and I have had ongoing issues with speed. I was with BT before switching and i got amazing speeds. I have logged issues on phone and eventually said my router was faulty so sent me a new one. After installing new one I am still only getting download speeds of 18!!??? How can this be when the colleague on phone told me I would get speeds of around 55 and when i was with bt I got this. So frustrating when you are paying for a service which you are not getting......

Fibre large speed

I recently renewed a contract to have Fibre large.

Whilst the upload speed did go up to 16mbps, the download stayed relatively the same, about 38mbps.

Customer service said my speed are capped until for a week. Not sure about this, can I have a second opinion or is that the max I can get. I was guaranteed minimum 60mbps.

My internet connection keeps disapearing

Hello i got problem with my fibre internet connection it keeps disapearing its start like 11am every day and it keeps disapearing like for 5 min sometimes like for 10 min and coming back and again and again and again its really annoying any ideas how can i solwe it.

When internet disapears i check my router wia my ip address and its says Your device can not connect to Internet, please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider). something like this come on help me

HG633 keeps "forgetting" my port forwarding rules!!!

I've had my HG633 (firmware 1.15t) for a while and it performs OK with the large fibre package but there is one incredibly annoying thing it does that I have absolutely no idea why....

It very often "forgets" my Port forwarding Rules....

The rules are set via Home Network>LAN Devices>Manage Devices>Edit Port Forwarding Rules..

I have three webcams at home that need port forwarding in order to be accessed remotely.

I have setup the HG633 with three port forwarding rules and it all works swimmingly...... except that at least once a week the HG633 "forgets" one (or two) of the port forwarding entries... and I mean it just disappears....

I've had to get in the habit now of backing up the router config when the three entries are "there" and when one disappears I restore the router to the previous "good" config...

This is crazy though as I've never had any router that "forgets" an entry like this.... the router is constantly on, hardly ever disconnects and can't be managed remotely.... so how on earth can an entry (or two) just disappear..... and I've tried this with three HG633 routers and they all do the same thing!!

Does anyone have any clues.....

Upgraded from Medium to Large...not happy

Hi, 6 months ago (more or less) I upgraded my fibre Medium to Large, the upload speed was increased but to be honest I´m not quite happy with the download speed:

Around 40 Mbps, I was promised more than that when I upgraded, I opened a message in this same forum by that time I was getting 55 Mbps and a BT engineer came to mine, check the main socket and he told me that I was getting around 70 Mbps from the BT green cabinet, but now, well take a look:

1 picture: Xbox One S wired.

2 pic: Iphone 6S.

3 and 4 pic: Macbook wireless.

5 pic: Apparently, my router is synced at 43 Mbps

As you can see SAME results with differents devices and type of connections.

Could you check this for me?

Cheers

PS4 dropped connections on HG633 with 1.20t software

Hi,

I am experiencing loss of internet connection every 5-10 minutes when using my PS4 console apps. The router resets with all lights except power going off before the connection is restablished. Using any other devices are fine, the problem only occurs when using the PS4.

A number of calls to customer services have not resolved the issue, although it appears from other threads that this may be an issue with the router firmware version and that a firmware update could resolve the issue. Is this something that only TT can do, as customer services on the phone wouldn't, despite me specifically asking them to.

My router details are:

Product type: HG633
Hardware version: H.1.01
Software version: v1.20t

No broadband for nearly a week

I'm no too sure if this is the right forum to put this,

my briadband and phone line stopped working at times extremely intermittent for nearly a week, prior to this all was fine!!

i live on a Narrowboat on a residential mooring, and the problem seems to have started in the bad rain. An engineer came out today but just prior say last night it all started working again!!

he came and tested the line but there as know fault, I tried to explain that it had started working since the rain had stopped!!

but he said he was sure the rain wouldn't stop t working.

i explained that it only happened when it was raining bad, I also told him there was an underground junction and there was a old bullet connector with gel in that contains all the connections to the moorings, he said he wasn't allowed to go in there as he wasn't an underground engineer!!!!

but he said it all should be fine down there, I did say I was there when open reach first connected me and the guy who did it said it was a mess, broken wires the bullet connector had damp in etc and it did flood in there,

so now here is my problem

all is working fine for now Until it rains bad again!!

i think I'm gonna get charged £65 for the engineer to come out even tho it wasn't my fault!!!

i have been paying for fibre, phone, tv, now TV etc and not been able to use it all in nearly a week.

im not sure but can i claim any compensation for this and get the engineer call out fee reversed!!

VDSL Profiles?

Hello,

I was a Talk Talk customer a few years back before fibre was available in my area and during my time, used this forum quite a lot. One of the benefits was being able to specify what SNR Profile and Type I could use to eke out every last KB of performance (It was a 2Mbps line, it all counted!).

I moved to BT as despite fibre being in my area, Talk Talk couldn't offer it at the time. Plus I got free BT Sport too. Neither of those now apply, so I've just switched back to Talk Talk.

So I'd like to know if there are similair changes that can be made to VDSL lines, the same as what could be done to ADSL. If there are options, what choices are there?

At present, I'm getting a 61394/20000 sync rate but it was approx 15Mbps higher with BT

Upstream line rate (kbit/s): 20000
Downstream line rate (kbit/s): 61394
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 6.5
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 6.9
Upstream interleave depth: 1
Downstream interleave depth: 1
Line standard: VDSL2
Upstream line attenuation (dB): 0.1
Downstream line attenuation (dB): 9
Upstream output power (dBm): 5.7
Downstream output power (dBm): 14.5
Channel type: Fast

Connection has been stable for the past 8 days and since it went live on the 29th Sept, has only dropped once which I suspect was DLM has it happened exactly at 01:30. At present, still using the Super Router and it's on FW 1.15t

Thank's OCE's (some names I still recognise!)

Problems with HG633 router - internet disconnection

I recently received a HG633 router as a replacement. After a while I noticed that the internet light on the button turned red for a couple of seconds and then returned to green. Further investigation showed that this occurs every 15 minutes. This is most noticeable with the Talktalk internet tv channels which freeze temporarily every 15 minutes. The effect is even worse with recorded programmes. The firmware version is 1.20t. Is there a fix please?

Fibre sycn rate

Hi, can someone tell me if fibre is similar to ADSL in that there is a period of line stabilisation? When I first got fibre approximately 12 months ago I was pretty much maxing out nearer 75mb.  My line up until 2-3 weeks ago was syncing at 79999 however about a week or so ago I noticed that my line was synching at 53445.  Following a purchase of a new TP-Link router today I still notice that it's still synching at 53445 - is there anything I can do to force a high resync rate?
