6mbps fibre???

$

Hi,

My go live date was 3rd November for fibre broadband. However I am receiving 6mbps dowload and less than 1mbps upload speeds. I have called talk talk 5 times in the last week who keep telling me that I am only connected to standard broadband although they can see i have ordered fibre. Now I'm being told that they will cancel my fibre order and I will have to call again next week to re order. This is a joke surely. I'e had approx 6 years of trouble with talk talk. How do I get to talk to someone from the UK who can help me without the language barrier😣😣😣

Getting Below Minimum Guaranteed Speeds - was told that it's still acceptable

A couple of months ago I upgraded from standard ADSL to faster fibre. On the signup email I was told I would get between 20-28mb with a Minimum Guaranteed speed of 20mb. When checking the line stats on the router the best sync rate I've ever seen has been 17mb. The router is connected to a filtered master faceplate fitted by openreach about a year ago with a single phone attached (no other extensions). Therefore I don't see there being an issue with my wiring.

Anyway, I called Talktalk recently and they found no faults on the line, it was within their acceptable limits and wouldn't persue it any further. They wouldn't take any notice of the minimum guaranteed speed I was given on sign up. I enquired whether I had the option of exiting the contract without penelty (The Broadband Code of Conduct section on the talktalk site says I can) and was told I couldn't becuase it was within their acceptable range. We tried the test socket and another brand new talktalk router and it made no difference. Here's my line stats:

Upstream DownstreamCurrent Rate (Kbps)Max Rate (Kbps)SNR Margin (dB)Line Attenuation (dB)Errors (Pkts)

139016593
139016811
6.16
64.425.1
00

My question is that does the minimum guarenteed speed given at signup actually count for anything? What they consider as acceptable appears to be well below this. The agent I called won't persue the issue any further and I'm locked into the contract.

Talk Talk Internet Congestion

Is anyone else in the Harlow, Essex area suffering the same acute broadband internet congestion problems that I am experiencing ?

I have super fast fibre (usually runs between 72 and 73 Mb), yet for the past two weeks it takes upto 5 whole minutes to load one single web page.

This only happens at peak times ie: early evenings and weekends.

Talk Talk know that have massive congestion problems but seem to have no plans to fix this.

Any others in thew same boat ??

New Connection No Broadband Lights

Hi,

I'm a new customer to TalkTalk and my account shows that my phone and broadband service has gone live. The phone line seems to work fine, but the router is only showing a green power and wireless light. The broadband and internet lights are not lit at all and reading around this seems to suggest the router isn't connected to the exchange? Any help or advice would be good.

Thanks,

Andy

My account states the following -

Your estimated download Speed will be between 39.00 Mb and 40.00 Mb

Your estimated upload Speed will be 2.00 Mb

We guarantee a minimum speed of at least 35.51 Mb

However, I have been getting a very unstable service with lots of DSL drops, and my speed is less than 4.00 Mb!!

The router readings are as follows (direct through my master socket, with all wired network):

DSL synchronization status:Up
Connection status:Showtime
Upstream line rate (kbit/s):9997
Downstream line rate (kbit/s):39806
Maximum upstream rate (kbit/s):28137
Maximum downstream rate (kbit/s):97472
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB):17.4
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB):18.1
Upstream interleave depth:1
Downstream interleave depth:5
Line standard:VDSL2
Upstream line attenuation (dB):4.1
Downstream line attenuation (dB):9.4
Upstream output power (dBm):3.7
Downstream output power (dBm):13.4
Channel type:Interleaved

I spoke to Customer Service Nov 2nd, and they advised an engineer within 72 hours as there is a line fault with the fibre. Now, over a week later the only change is that I am getting 10.00 Mb UPLOAD speed, and still only 4.00 Mb or less download.

Also, I have upgraded to Faster Fibre, but my account information still states Fibre Medium, with the medium package speeds. When will this change? It is bad enough that I am paying for a service that I do not get, without also being conned over an upgrade.

Fibre not activated.

Hi

I have just had fibre installed at a new property and was given a go live date of 9th Nov but as of this morning nothing.

The engineer was out and had done his thing, the phone line is up and running and the router is connecting to the internet but any time I open a browser window I get an error stating the account is not active and I should contact you for the activation date.

Was on the phone twice about this yesterday, the first person hung up on me, and the second person seemed convinced the problem was on my side (which I assure you it is not)! Help please!

DSL3782 - cannot access log in page

Today - all of a sudden - I can not access my DSL3782 router admin page.
Normally it opens immediately using credentials saved in firefox. That doesnt work.

Nor does entering the user "admin" (no quotes) and the correct ROUTER password either manually or via copy & paste from a word file.

I have tried turnng off for a while then restarting it - no difference.

Every time I get

401 Unauthorized

Your client does not have permission to get URL /cgi-bin/index.asp from this server.

Suggestions?

How do you change the Router Admin Password for a D-Link DSL-3782 Router?

I recently received a DSL-3782 router from TalkTalk  (the previous router had developed a fault).

I have been able to change the Wi-Fi password for the new router but so far have not managed to enter a new admin password - even the copy of the router manual didn't seem to give any info on how to do this.

Hopefully someone in the TalkTalk community has the answer?

Faster Fibre Speed not as contracted 20 -29.2MB

Just upgraded to TalkTalk Faster Fibre after checking with their TS that I would get speeds of between 20MB to 29.2MB, I'm thinking if I get mid range of that, 25MB I will be happy. Come the switch on date 9/11/17, I got 17.6 - 17.9MB after a struggle. (with a cable)

After spending at least 1 hr with TS they were unable to find any problems, even the new HG633 router was updated. Their resolution was it will all be resolved within 48hrs (DLM?), needelss to say, it is still running at 17.6 - 17.9MB after a struggle.

My previous ADSL was running at 9.6MB and stable. The router is a direct connection at the master socket with cat 5 with its own filter. (As recommended by BT after it took 2 years to fix the previous fault which was their line) Nothing else is connected to it.

I notice that BT's Downstream Handback Threshold is 17.9MBps!!!!

Using the router information below, is it realistic for TT to tell me that I will get 20 - 29.2MB?

Ok so on Wednesday my internet went down, so I call TalkTalk customer service, the women has no clue what she's doing, she knows it's a problem outside and says she'll get an engineer out on Friday, so he comes out, turns out he's an engineer that only deals with stuff inside. So I had to wait until today for an engineer that deals with things outside. So he gets it all fixed and stuff, my speeds improve to 73mb download and 19mb upload, all happy and stuff then the internet goes down for 5 minutes comes back on and my speeds drop down to 30mb download and 13mb upload.. tried everything, restarting router, checking the wall connections.. nothing.. what even is TalkTalk hahaha. Like come on TalkTalk..

Does this mean that the phone line to the house from the street is now fibre optic, or is it still the old copper wire coming form the telegraph pole?

Slow faster fibre and struggling with the online chat function

Hi.  I've been logging in via chat to tech service  since last week and have spent over 6 hrs on live chat trying to resolve the issue.

An eng was sent out on Wed who supplied a new router but I'm still only getting speeds of between 7mb and 11 with a max at 22mb.   Was 4mb before wednesday. Nowhere near the 38mb we were told we could receive.

So far as well as a new router the following have been tried

Line tests

Change channel for wifi

Send new software to you view box

New firmware

Turned everything off

Unplugged all internet bases technology

Sycronised the pla plugs

Still disappointed in what we are getting and seems we are unable to get confirmation of what our min speed should be according to contract as every time i ask they end the live chat.

What else should I be doing to get closer to the 38mb we pay for.

Connection dropping when streaming/playing ps4

Hi all

Currently having issues with our Talktalk HG633 router where the broadband connection drops when playing online on PS4 via Ethernet. Also experiencing wifi drop outs when trying to stream over our fire tv boxes.

Heard that a remote firmware upgrade can be done to fix this. If that is the case, if my router can be added to the list, it’d be appreciated.

Thanks

Fibre Speed issue

$

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help.

I have the Huawei HG663 Fibre Router, and I'm on a Fibre service.

I used to have regular broadband and I was receiving around 5-8mbps speeds.

When I turn my router on, I start receiving speeds of around 30mbps, which is great. It's slightly less than the speeds quoted to us, but it's still a faster service.

After around a day, the speed drops gradually, until it is around 3-4mbps.

It stays this way until I restart the router. Once restarted, I get the Fibre speeds of around 30mbps again.

What will be causing this?

Thanks
