My 38mb fibre went live on the 5th March. The best speed I have had is 17mb.
I was given a minimum speed of 35mb when I signed up, is there a problem?
Hi I don't know what openreach have been doing for the last week or so in the cabinets around the LCHEY exchange but my SNR has almost doubled to 11db on my upstream and gone up by 3db to 8db on my downstream also my upload speed has dropped to almost 4mb and my download speed has dropped to 33mb and i'm struggling with most websites not responding. I have done antivirus and security checks and my machine is clean and like I said there are a lot of openreach vans in the area working on the cabinets at the moment and have been all week.
Although 1.22t seems to work adequately for me, though lacking sufficient DHCP reservations and not always getting on with a first generation Chromecast, may I please have an update to the latest firmware. It would be nice to see if the WiFi performance sharpens up a bit.
Thanks,
Graham
Hi,
Fiber broadband was activated a couple of days ago on my line with an estimated 32-55mbps. Due to the potentially higher speeds I opted for the faber boost, however the line has been achieving ~35mbps throughput and connecting at 38mbps. While this may be conincidence and the limit of the line, I have had numerous problems with talktalk at this address recently, and I cannot help but wonder if the fiber boost has in fact been activated (I did recieve two emails stating there was an issue with the order - neither specified what nor were ever 'resolved').
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached my line stats below.
Hello, I am having problems with our wifi. Connection is very intermittent over various different devices. My son has spoken to Talk Talk on the telephone line and all they seem to want to do is test the line and change settings. Nothing seems to happen after that. Apparently they can not send me a new router unless their tests show a problem. Is there a way I can get a new router? Could a mod sort this for me?
Hi - How can I set my router up to get the speeds up on my devices.
I've read about reserving an IP address (my router shows up all my devices) and port forwarding (my router just shows up gaming consoles) and have followed the reserve IP address instructions on the Talk talk website - but I've no idea what I'm doing and which one will help.
I have 2 ipads, 2 iphones, 2 androids, 1 mac mini with airport wifi, printer, Xbox, switch, TV and i connect with a microsoft Laptop every so often too - and they all get poor speeds even though i'm on fibre. We connect them all via WIFI and this is set up to the main socket etc and its not this thats the problem.
Any experts can help me - in laymans terms please?
We've been like this for a year, had a new router no change, upgraded to fibre = no change.
Thanks.
Would you be able to update the latest firmware on my router HG633? The version is at v1.22t.
I was wondering if you could do me a favour and check why the internet is not very stable? I am trying to play online using the ps4 and it is so slow and lagging. Just to say I am connecting the ps4 through wireless as I have not other option.
The wireless signal is about 83% in my room but I really have no other option. The best it can be is 10mbps download and 3mbps upload.
Through my laptop I can get 30mbps download and 9mbps. This is the same room but through the laptop.
I hope you can help.
i currently pay for 75mbs speeds but as of this week i cannot get over 30mbs, i am running test through wired and wireless on multiple device's and it is always low, any help?
My Fibre plus Fibre Speed Boost went live yesterday, but my Router is only showing a Downstream Line Rate of 36880kbs. So I've no chance of getting the Minimum Guaranteed speed of 40Mb/s.
Will this resolve itself, or do I need to find someone to complain to? If so, who??
Hi,
I'm frequently finding that my Mac loses internet access, even though it says it's connected to the HG633 on wifi. The only cure is to reboot the HG633 - rebooting the Mac makes no difference generally.
From reading other posts here, it looks like it's the HG633 firmware that's responsible - I'm on v1.22.
I have remote management enabled, so I'm a bit surprised that v2 hasn't arrived automatically. Nonetheless, can I get it, please?
Hi All, I keep losing connection to the internet from all my devices (Andriod phone, macbook, tv, xbox) I have spent most of the day trying to sort it out via text, and I am no nearer. My router is Huawei HG633. Broadband, wireless and ethernet lights are all flashing. My phone line has a very bad reception (loud crackling) and I can only stay connected to the wifi for about a minute before it drops again. My mobile also says that there is a privacy issue. Can anyone please help! Thanks in advance for your time!!
Ben.
hello - I am trying to subscribe for a new fibre connection to a property which doesn't currently have broadband or a phone connection. The property in in the middle of a terrace of identical buildings. Using the adress lookup on the Talktalk order page, it says fibre is not currently available in my area . However, if I change my house number to either of the properties either side of me, it then shows as being available. I definitely know there is FTTC available (and it has been for some time) and this is made more frustrating as I can physically see the local BT exchange which is less than 50m away! Any ideas how I get the Talktalk address look up corrected to show availability as it must be a database error?
Hi,
I have just switched from Sky to Talktalk Fibre and now my VPN and DirectAccess connections to my office no longer work. I have read else where this is a know issue with the D-link DSL-3782 and the only current solution is for you to send an alternative router - is this correct?
Many thanks in advance,
Chris
Hi All,
We have a new firmware for the HG635 currently in Beta, and should be ready to deploy in the next week.
If you would like to try this, please post in the community asking us to update your firmware to v1.13.
Please note this is for the HG635 router only.
Thanks
Karl.
Hi
Since we have moved in to our new house (6 months) we have had regular drop outs of the internet. When this happens the lights on the router all seem normal. To resolve it I have to restart the router.
Speed checks seem to report back that the sped is around 19-22MB, maybe there is a hardware fault or line fault somewhere?
Can this be checked as it's becoming a pain.
Thanks
ok, so my green cabinet has fibre going to it, so if i plugged my computer in there i'd get great speed up to 38 i'd get 38. up to 78 i'd get 78. yes?
so if i'm paying for up to 38 at the cabinet and i live 900 metres away i lose some speed. hence my speed being around 32meg..
so this is the bit i'm stumped with, lets say i pay for 78meg at cabinet why will i not get a better speed at my home 900 metres away? surely the 78 will degrade a simiar amount no? so i'd get lets say 45meg a bigger loss but still the same distance.
this is a cut out from an article in 2014, so WTH!
Speeds over copper degrade over distance, but BT said it was able to achieve 786Mbps download speeds over 19 meters and 696Mbps download speeds over 66 meters. Fiber and copper deployments can end up sending data over copper for much longer distances, further lowering speed, but BT said that 66 meters and below "encompasses around 80 percent of such connections." It's not clear whether the 80 percent figure refers to BT's existing network, the field trial area, or future deployment plans. We've asked the company to clarify.
BT said it "currently passes more than 20 million UK premises using a mix of Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) and Fibre to the Cabinet technology (FTTC)." G.fast requires Fiber To The Distribution Point (FTTdp), which brings fiber closer to homes than FTTC, BT said. This brings fiber to telephone poles or junction boxes, with copper carrying data the rest of the way.
BT's trials suggest that G.fast technology may not be far from real-world deployment. In the US, AT&T has extensively deployed fiber-to-the-node service that places fiber about 600 to 900 meters away from homes and tops out at 45Mbps. For faster speeds, AT&T is beginning deployments of fiber-to-the-home in limited areas. If G.fast proves promising, AT&T could bring fiber-like speeds to a greater number of customers at lower cost.
Hello,
As I see here in the comunity this is a popular thread about dropping connections. I got exatly the same thing like all of the people around here. I just been connectid since december and connection has been stable until last week when it start dropping for no obvious rason. A my router is standing just on the telly in the middle of the room I can chesk it frequently and once in the while multiple times a day every day since last week it shows red light on the internet connection light. If I turn the damn thing off and put it back on after 15 sec it apears to be working for some time before suddenly drop out. I called a technical guys over the phone who did some checking and wasted about 30 mins of my life to tell me that I just need to power it down for 15 sec and it will be back to normal. Is that normal thing for a talk talk broadband ??? I only had virgin media before in this country and its been far away from perfect but in three years I called them only 4 times 2 of which was not connection related questions, never had to turn off and then back on the router.
Very diapointed with the service and just dont know what to do now as I stuck with that rubish for the next 18 months
Any advice?
Or it will be another rubish thread about "blah blah blah check the test router every now and then"?
I upgraded to fibre broadband in January and although my download speed has increased from around 7MB to 14MB my upload speed is actaully lower. Before fibre I was getting upload speeds around 1MB but since the switch I'm getting anything from 0.1 to 0.6MB - usually the lower end of the range though. TalkTalk have told me there are no issues with the line and have changed my router. The DLink 3782 I'm using now is certainly an improvement over the previous Huawei but my speed is still sub par. Is what I'm experiencing just normal for fibre or is there a problem with the line... just feel I'm being short changed at the moment?
Upgraded to faster fibre with boost with up to 76mbps, still only getting 17 Mbps even though guaranteed minimum speed is 32mbps. Initially a fault was detected and after OpenReach visited , a new master socket with mk4 faceplate was fitted, engineer checked internal wiring and left router connected to an extension socket, even after boost was applied, the speed stayed at around 17mbps. Over the last two weeks, numerous times the router firmware has been upgraded, I have been asked to connect router to master socket but at the front plate, the router will not connect, the ADSL light doesn’t come on. The router will connect through the test socket but the speed is still only 17mbps, I have been fobbed off and told that there is a problem with the internal wiring, however on your support pages, it clearly says the internal wiring could be at fault if the speeds are higher at the test socket but mine are not. If the speeds are the same at the test socket and other points, the problem is likely to be external? I am disappointed that having upgraded, I am not getting the speeds I am paying for. Each time I contact TalkTalk, the same basic tests are carried out, firmware updated and I keep being told to wait another 48 hours and check the speeds again, today I have spent nearly 8 hours texting and carrying out tests and moving the router for the speeds to still be the same.
