No Broadband/Internet

Since Thursday, 12th of April, both the Broadband and Internet lights on my router (D-Link 3782) have been off, with no internet reaching the property since then.

The service status online states there is a problem and upon ringing support on Thursday, I was told there is a line fault and an engineer should be out in 2-3 working days with message updates.

Later that day I got a text saying that 'We are sorry the engineer hasn't been able to fix the problem and has been escalated' to that effect.

On Monday 16th, the internet came back on around midday... for about 8 hours only for the issue to resume soon after. Called TalkTalk to update on this and was told the issue is with a manager and being looked into, granted this was around half 10 at night but not heard anything today.

Not heard anything regarding an engineer or as to why I got broadband for 8 hours seemingly by magic (as great as it was for a while).

Wondering if anyone else has had this happen and roughly how long it took to be resolved.

Fibre broadband speed not reaching minimum guaranteed speed.

For several weeks / months now - I have been having broadband speed issue in that it has never reached the Minimum Guaranteed Speed that I was informed about when I signed up as a customer as below. Even my upload speed is much lower than stated.

Minimum Guaranteed speed

35Mb

Download speed

39Mb to 40Mb

Upload speed

10Mb

I rarely use more than one or two devices together and when I have run speed tests - I have ensured no other devices are online.

I also ensured that I was with 5feet of the router in the same room. The router is connected to the master telephone socket with the filters as supplied by TalkTalk.

The router is a Huawei HG633 (H.1.01). I was supplied this router as a replacement as the one supplied originally did not support VPN.

Speed drop from 73 mbps to 58 mbps

Over the last few days my speed has dropped from 73 mbps (stable for several months/year) to 58 mbps (since Friday 13th!).

Tested:

using an isolated Master Socket;

connected via Ethernet cable (Windows 10 pc)

connected via WiFi (iPad Pro)

tried a number of adsl filters

telephone line completely noise free

tried two routers HG633 (V2.0t) and DSL-3782 (v1.08t) (default DSL-3782)

Would you please investigate.

Personal profile is up to date.

Thanks

Faster fibre upgrade

Currently going through the pains.of a fibre upgrade which has left me with no internet access for the better part of 2 days. The intetnet LED on the 533 router is constant red, but the others all seem to be ok, telephone service is also ok. When chatting with normal TT agents, I'm being fed the usual stuff about openreach being to blame, but this does not look like a line problem to me. It does seem strange however, that this was supposed to be an upgrade to fibre, yet no one required to get into the house, and the same copper presentation and router are being used, in this fibre service - most unusual.

Help!

Where do i start? Ive reached the end of my tether with talktalk and the poor servive they have provided me its been 10 dsys now since my internet went down, internet light and beoadband light both out sometimes the broadband light flickers green, done all the troubleshooting through the live chat and their no use at all just get told it has been escalated im sick to death of going around in circles and the issue not getting resloved whats even more frustrating is that sometimes the router will be suddenly lit up and the wifi will be working this may last anywhere from a couple of hours to 1-2 days then it cuts out again and the cycle starts again, could this be a problem at talktalks end? I contacted the talktalk tech team through live chat only an hour or so ago as my internet is down again and they have now said that bt openreach have rejected the latest complaint i have made i really dont know what to do now as im sick of paying money for a pathetic service id appreciate some help please thanks.

Broadband less than guaranteed quote

Hi there,

I recently upgraded my standard broadband to fibre, my original line speed was pretty good syncing at between 8 and 11 mbps download. I inquired about fibre and was quoted 39mbps download with a guaranteed minimum of 30mbps. Unfortunately i have had a constant download sync of 26937 kbps, averaging a download speed of 17/18 actual download.

Could anyone see about cranking my speeds up to the quoted sync speeds please?

Much appreciated

Dave

Fibre is slowing down

Hi,

Our speeds had consistently stayed at 9999/39999 for 2/3 months after we had our final engineer visit. We had problems when our fibre was first installed, but a couple eningeer visits fixed the issues.

A couple months ago, the ping started to increase, but download and upload speeds stayed the same.

Over the past month or so, speeds have been dropping. The router seems to restart itself every few days. It's currently down to 9999/19953. This is the lowest I've seen it:

Speed test results were averaging out like this before the issues:

6891596973

Can an OCE look into this, please?

I can't connect to my work's vpn with the DSL-3782 router. From looking at other threads it seems this is a common issue - is there a firmware update available or do I need a new router?

I have contacted chat but there refusal to reissue a new one has baffled me even when i pasted the forum answers

Can i get a response from talktlak as to what next i need to do.

Thanks

Martin

Annoying and random speed drops

Hi! I am a customer since 15th February. In general I am very happy, and when I had a problem I received a compensation in my bill.

But since more than a month my speed is very unstable: sometimes I cannot open a web if I do not wait for a minute, for example. When the connection is good, speed is great! But it is not stable at all: When I am browsing the net, maybe one doesn't load properly; watching Netflix the quality changes from 480p and 1080p too often...

I thought it could be related to the router, but after buying a new one, the problem improves, but no solution at all.

At my router I can get the right sync speed, but some lost packages. Could anyone have a look at this?

Thank you very much!

76MB Fibre problems. No real difference to 38MB. Talk Talk Tech Team Unhelpful.

Hi all,

Ok, soooo

I recently upgraded from the 38MB package to the 76MB package. I'd been on the 38MB package for a year and would get steady speeds of 35MB to 38MB. Speeds would remain stable for 2 to 4 months then would suffer drops in speed. So every 2 to 4 months i'd have to contact Talk Talk and they would always end up doing the same thing, which is reset the line/router from their end and my 35 to 38MB speeds would return again for a few months.

After upgrading to the 76MB speeds haven't been great. Speeds vary from just 3MB up to 45MB with constant erratic drops. One minute its 45, the next 14, the next 22 etc etc. Stability wise it is much worse than my previous cheaper 38MB package. And the speeds aren't much better either if it tops out around 42 to 45MB. When signing up i was told my minimum speed would be 60MB. After not getting those speeds i contacted Talk Talk's tech team only to be told my minimum speeds would be 45MB. They then told me to contact them again after 24 hours. 24 hours later they then tell me my minimum speeds would be 40MB. Again, they told me to contact them back in 24 hours and all would be fixed. 24 hours later the problems still persist and this time they tell me my minimum speeds would be 33MB. (Yeah, i know!) They tell me different things everytime i contact them and just tell me to get in touch again after 24 hours claiming everything will be resolved but it isn't.

Today when i contacted them the tech team basically told me to be grateful for what i'm given as in the Philippines they only have 10mb speeds and they are grateful for it. Then they basically called me a liar saying there was no drops in my speeds and i should stop saying there was. No joke, even screen grabbed the chat.

They also tried to tell me that my speeds were in an acceptable range.

Whatever are they on at Talk Talk HQ at the minute?

How to cancel faster fibre due to not reaching guaranteed speed.

My faster fibre broadband went live on 13/04/2018, my guaranteed minimum speed was given as 63.9mb. I was pleasantly surprised to find I was getting 74mb download speed. This speed was obtained by using a broadband speed checker on an android phone.

It did say to leave it all on for ten days to sort itself out and it has been slowing down gradually since then. Yesterday it was at 30mb and today back to 57mb download speed, all checks done over WiFi on my phone.

These speeds would be fine themselves but having been given a minimum download speed of 63.9mb this is what I expect.

I had a conversation by the online chat thingy and an engineer has been booked for me in May but I’m obviously concerned I’m going to get billed £50 when they tell me there is nothing wrong.

In the terms and conditions it does say I can cancel without penalty if the guaranteed speed is not met and to be honest I don’t have much faith in talktalk fixing the problem having read other posts. I would rather cancel and go back to my normal broadband than go through hoops to fix this.

Could someone from talktalk have a look at my line and tell me what it syncs at please. Thanks.

Non TalkTalk router password

Hi

I was interested to read your thread.  I am also an old Tiscali customer with an old Tiscali email address and use a router that was not provided by TalkTalk or Tiscali - an old Netgear D3600.  I am still on copper wires and want to upgrade to fibre (FTTC) so need to change my router as the D3600 only works on ADSL.  I want to change the router before I switch to fibre and seem to have two choices a free HG633 super-router which talk Talk sent me 2 years ago (to solve a problem I didn't have)  but which  I have never used or a new Netgear D6400, both of which will work with both ADSL and fibre VDSL.  But as I understand it the HG633 comes with built in default TalkTalk username and password and, having checked on the TalkTalk automated BroadBand Password enquiry line, my broadband username is in a different format  to that used by TalkTalk - it is my original Tiscali email address and the password is my original Tiscali account password (long since changed for my account thank goodness).  So now I am wondering whether the HG633 will work with my Broadband username or whether I should go straight to the Netgear D6400, which introduces another potentail pitfall into my switch to fibre.  As usual non of the TalkTalk help sheets online offer any advice on Tiscali specific issues so i was wondering whether you or anyone else had any isight or thoughts/advice on the issue before I take the plunge and find out the hard way?

No internet after go live date.

Hi my line was set up by an openreach  engineer on 16/04/2018, also my go live date.  There is still no internet conection today 19/04/2018. My online account shows that i am up and running?  I contacted talk talk on 17/04/2018 through the chat and was taken through some trouble shooting steps with no results and advised that it would be refered to ? as the highest priority. I recontacted talk talk today 19/04/2018 through chat for an update on the situation and was advised that it had been noted and refered as the highest priority?  The people on chat where excellent but i still have no internet or any idea when i will. I  assume that in meanwhile i am being charged for this.  Does anyone have a similar experience?  Should i just cancel or move to another provider?

He already as a anti virus with Avast, is all this to try and make him install the SuperSafe boost as ive seen other talktalk customers recieve the same email?

I'm somewhat disappointed with the speed of my broadband  which I've monitored for a week.

My download speed has varied between 15 to 46 mbps and once reached 59 mbps

Upload speeds between 8 - 18 speeds checked wired and wireless seems to make very little difference. Reading taken at random times, would appreciate some help have added my router stats think they look ok.
