Facebook and WhatsApp iPhone apps don’t work on wofo

We se the up put new talktalk broadband a month ago but I just cannot get Facebook or WhatsApp to work on my iPhone via the apps. I have tried reinstalling the apps, resetting the WiFi connection and restarting the iPhone and router but nothing works. Speeds are usually fine so it’s not the network. Previous threads seem to suggest the router can be to blame. We have the WiFi hub. Can this be the issue?

Loss of internet connection EVERY night at the same time.

Well seen as phone support seem to be pretending this isn't happening. I'll post here as so many others are.

Between 2 and 3am every night I losing internet connection, from all my devices.

However the router led stays solid white (Sagemcom FAST 5364-3), and when dialling in on 192.168.1.1 it reports that there IS internet access. the connection will stay down for between 5 to 20 minutes, and only ever happens one time each night. Almost as if the exchange/server is doing a nightly reset.

I have tried a new DNS settings, new micro filter, my line has been reported to be healthy by the phone staff.

Use of own router and modem with talktalk

Hi,

I recently joined talktalk yesterday and I have an install date of the 17th. The question/ questions if have are, currently with virgin I have my hub in modem mode and connected to my Netgear nighthawk.

I want a similar setup with talktalk but hopefully not as bulky as using the hub in this way. Does talktalk provide or are able to provide a modem on its own for install or would I be better getting something like a Netgear Dsl modem to go with my router and configuring this?

I would prefer the Netgear modem to be fair if possible but and if anyone else uses one or similar, any experiences you can share would be quite helpful 🙂

Router showing a wired android device

Not used the Wifi Hub for a while as it's less stable and has less functionality than my own router. Unfortunately my service has got so bad I've had to pop the Wifi Hub back on so that I can get support from TalkTalk.

Once I'd finally rebuilt my network, real pain as I have a lot of fixed IP addressed and use a different IP range than the one the Hub lets you, I noticed that in the My Devices screen it displays an android device in the wired connection list. I've checked the MAC address against all the android devices I have and I have no idea what this is. All my wired devices are listed as connected, so it's nothing that I've added.

Anyone else seen this issue? Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm a bit concerned that the router access hads been compromised.

So many issues since upgrading to Faster Fibre.

I recently upgraded from Fibre to Faster Fibre and my online experience is becoming a nightmare.Constant disconnections, erratic speeds, websites not loading , no images on sites, problems logging in to Talktalk etc etc. I expected a few speed issues when upgrading but I think its a Router issue, it does not seem to be able to cope. Any help appreciated.

TalkTalk blocking video games....

So since yesterday i could not connect to any online video game server that includes following: Steam, Blizzard's Battle.net launcher, EA's Origin launcher, Ubisoft's Uplay Launcher. Anytime i get it gives me error saying that online servers cant be reached and connection failed.

But I feel like TalkTalk is *@#][!![]'#[@#]!* around since whenever i use VPN and connect to different country it works right away and its not windows 10 issue seems like TalkTalk is doing something shady and blocking all the connections to video game servers no matter what and ontop of that, kids safe, Scam protection, virus alerts and all that is turned off. Also Google Chrome now automatically turns on safesearch and its all caused by TalkTalk.

I feel like this company doesn't care abotu their customers and want to control everything they do....

Wifi extender kit

Can someone please tell me how good or not the Wifi Extender Kit is currently offered at £25?

I realise I have a weakness with my in-house wifi in the upstairs rear bedroom which I use as an office. I have the latest TalkTalk Wifi Hub downstairs and generally wifi will effectivelly reach most areas of my house but now and again I have a problem upstairs such that the wifi is took weak to even open web pages on my windows 10 computer.

I have checked wifi strength with a wifi analyser and realise that once my wifi sound levels drop to

around -70dBm in the rear bedroom I have a problem. I often get wifi around -50dBm and at this level I have no problems using my computer.

What I want to know is will the addition of the TalkTalk Wifi Extender kit solve my wifi problems?

What is the current W-iFi Hub Firmware

I was wondering if someone could please confirm the latest Hub firmware, I'm currently on SG4K10002600t with GUI 3.7.5

No major issues but having only just obtained the router and also getting to know the device, I would like to confirm if the software/firmware is up to date.

I've noticed that connected devices are not always shown under the 5g wireless section, for example my iMac is currently connected to the internet as I type this but no sign of it is shown under 5g Wireless in the Dashboard, likewise my Music Streamer appears to be absent.

This appears to be a display issue because the devices are actually connecting and accessing the 5g network, it's just strange behaviour which I was not expecting and my previous Super Router always displayed connected devices, so is this a bug?

I don't appear to have any issues with getting "Friendly" names to stick though.

Thanks in advance.

What have you done to my faster fibre?

Hi, I just renewed my faster fibre contract for £26/month (now advertised at £23.50 a few days after!!) and since then my speed has been diabolical the best being about 10.2Mb/sec and just 7.5 at 8am on a Sunday morning and worst being 2.9Mb/s just now at 12.30pm Upload has been pretty constant at around 10mb/s. That's with direct ethernet cable to my HG633 router. I've been on faster fibre for over a year and used to get 35mb/s on frequent tests. My service status page says I should be averageing 27 to 40 and fastest 60mb - I wish!!

Nothing should have changed on the hardware side when I renewed my contract a couple of weeks ago which I did via online chat and had frequent dropped connection for a day or so afterwards.

Please can you run some proper checks

Changing Default LAN IP Address and DHCP Range on FAST 5364 ROuter

I am trying to change the default IP address of a new Router (FAST 5364) that I have just been sent. Firmware version SG4K10002600t. H/W 3.00 GUI 3.7.5

In the DHCP settings am trying to change the default LAN IP from from 192.168.1.1 to 10.10.8.1 which is how it was configured on my prior TalkTalk router (An Huawei HG633) which was replaced as it was failing - my home network uses a separate DHCP service.

However the DHCP Configuration screen will not let me apply the change as it reports the ending IP Pool address in the DHCP range is invalid, which it is not, I have set the Router IP Address to 10.10.8.1 and the DHCP range to 10.10.8.2 to 10.10.8.10.  This is the case if i turn DHCP on or Off - seems to be a validation issue in the GUI.

Since it does not accept the ending IP Address it will not let me save the new configuration see below:

Fast Router 5364 connections limit?

$

Yes, working better after new socket fitted due to bridge tap, so no real speed issue, but number of device connections limit seems to be in force? pass 25 devices and although maybe registered as connected, pings show no communication. Even tried older TT router hardwired as a second wifi router (obviously different channel) , but to no avail.

In router admin, although most devices are shown in a list of connected devices, only 12 appear in devices to manage window?

I'm not even sure if I purchase an expensive wifi router and hardwire it in in place of the TT wifi, whether the fast router will still limit the number of devices? Any info there would be appreciated.

A lot of devices attached are not requiring actual internet connection, just network communication for control of lights etc.

I had read somewhere that this router could handle 50 connections, but not so in my experience.

I must admit this has been driving me nuts, and taking the shine off the so called smart world...

Any info would be much appreciated  ..

Faulty TalkTalk WIFI router

Hi,

I've been having ongoing issues where my internet connection gets really really slow. This has been happening for about two weeks. When this happens I can only resolve the issue by switching the router on and off again. However this only helps for a limited amount of time eg a couple of hours. I can't even get a broadband speed through the talk talk speed checker when this issue occurs- I get a message saying cannot connect to server. I switched to my older hg635 router and the connection speed seemed to stabilize - that being said this router is really old and has its own quirks. I've seen other people on the forum having similar issues and the only resolution is to repeatedly reset the wifi hub router.  As I work from home I need a stable internet connection. Everything points to the router being the problem at this stage. Can you send me a replacement hub wifi router to test.?

Regards

Faster Fibre dropping signal several times a day.

If i cannot get this solved here i'm going to look at getting ofcom involved or the neccasary regulating body, solely to get me out of my contract on poor service from TalkTalk.

5/10 times every day my internet is gauranteed to drop out, if not more!

This can either be a temporary blip causing my internet to disconnect or a complete router shutdown where it disconnects and turns red.

ive tried all new cables, a new filter, wired and wireless, ive reset the router and electrical equiptment. ive rang up multiple times and all i get is 'our end is saying theres no fault with the line'

from when i started with talktalk until 2 ish months ago it was running fine, now its being a nightmare. I never had this issue whatsoever with BT and had a brand new socket installed when i moved to TalkTalk.

Can anyone please provide me with some assistance?

Poor speed after fibre cables installed outside house

$

Hi. A month ago, I had a email from TalkTalk saying “we’re always looking for ways to improve your internet connection and we think we might be able to make yours better. We will be carrying out some tests on your line in the coming weeks and as part of this process an Openreach engineer might try to contact you or you may see them working in your area. We’ll get back to you soon to let you know if we’ve been able to carry out the improvements.”

No-one has ever 'got back' to me but a week or so later some men were on the road outside my house measuring distances. “Fibre cable” they said when I asked.

Last week, I say my internet speed had tripled. Unfortunately, that lasted just a day or two and is now slower than it was and prone to dropout. I went to the TT website and ran the Service Status which suggested I was 'new' in some way and that my line would be monitored for 2 weeks for optimum performance and that during that time my internet would be 'up and down'.

I wanted more clarification so went to Live Chat but the operator only wanted to know about my sockets etc. He also said 'I see you are on a new service' (or words to that effect) which I can only assume is related to new cabling outside my house. I certainly have not taken out a new contract recently.

My question then: assuming there are new fibre cables outside, is it normal for me to have had faster speed for just 2 days and then for it to become problematic while the line is 'monitored'? When is full speed likely to be restored permanently?

Thank you.

Wifi Hub DNS resolution

In my search for limited connections etc..........

Just wondering why I've got 42 pages of errors all related to DNS failures to resolve.

Typical is the plentiful DNS name resolution failure (frca1lbip.francecentral.cloudapp.azure.com)

Microsoft I believe?

Also netmon at dropbox.com. A few puzzling nonsensical

DNS name resolution failure (wdxzuoawjbkepr)

ones, but mainly microsoft and dropbox.

So, should I set up google DNS 8.8.8.8    8.8.4.4?

Hub - Device Friendly Names

$

Hello,

Every time I save a friendly name in my devices it loses them soon after. It used to be that some saved and some didn't and I never knew why. I had to do a factory reset today and now none save at all. It's something I'm used to having as I have quite a few IoT devices and random names mean nothing to me. I see from searching for a solution that this is a known issue and has been for many months now. Why is it not fixed after all this time when it's been known for such a long time? It's very annoying!
