Broadband not working

Hi all,

I had an engineer visit my new home on 16/10/19 to swap the line over to my account as the previous owners had talktalk but cancelled the line. The engineer was here for about 2 hours and tested the line saying everything was fine and that my router would be working in about 10 minutes.i waited 6 hours and the internet was still not on so i rang cs and they told me to wait until midnight as it was still activating. Reset the router this morning to find that the internet is still not on so i rang cs again and was on the phone for an hour trying to troubleshoot but in the end they decided to sent me out a new router even though i have 2 and they were working fine before the engineer did his thing, i dont think a new router is the answer but apparently the line is fine .

How to edit the list of DynDNS providers on the Fast 5364-3 T8 router

Hi

I have managed to configure the Fast 5364-3 T8 ver SG4K10002600t and port forwarded all the relevant ports required by my CCTV DVR. Everything is working as it should. I can view the cameras on my mobile and when I am away I can view the cameras over the internet as long as the WAN IP address is known.

As the TalkTalk service is Dynamic the IP address is likely to change at some point.

To resolve this issue I have a DDNS account setup with my CCTV DVR manufacturer own DDNS service so when the IP address changes I can still view my CCTV.

The problem is that I cannot complete the setup as my DDNS provider is not listed and I can not add it.

Any hints how another provider can be added to the drop down list?

Thanks everyone

Hi, I asked on live chat about getting the new hub for better wi-fi range and they sent me one, very kind of them.

Would you be able to update it to the latest firmware please? Mine is on SG4K10001400t at the moment.

Thank you!

New WiFi hub with poor WiFi?

Hi I’ve been sent the new WiFi hub due to an issue I had with my fibre. I was told it was better and faster than any other router talktalk did. I had the D-Link router which I got 37mbps (40mbps line speed) no problem over WiFi all over my house but now with the new WiFi hub the highest speed I’ve got is 22.3mbps and that’s stood right next to it. I’ve done the following - checked every channel on the 2.4 & 5mhz bands and disabled one when checking the other, I’ve turned off all devices that might be causing interference and I’ve used different devices to check speed? Can you tell me if I’ve missed anything or can do anything to improve things.

Reconnect but no log entry?

Hi

I've had a reconnect this morning, but there is no log entry, I was hoping to see something in there to suggest why it felt the need to reconnect.

Should there have been a log entry for a reconnect?

How do I update the firmware on my router (HG633)?

I've had this router since I joined TalkTalk many years ago and I've noticed it's still using the original firmware (i.e, it hasn't been updated at all).  Where do I get the firmware from so I can update it?

Missing Free Speed Boost

I ordered Talk Talk landline and fibre with the free speed boost for 18 months, so instead of up to 38 i would get up to 67.

My line was meant to go active on 30/9, it’s just gone active yesterday. My FREE speed boost for 18 months is missing. The whole reason i switched to Talk Talk was because Sky wouldn’t give me a speed boost on their line unless I was a new customer. So far the experience with Talk Talk hasn’t been great.

My line has just gone active 17 days late. I rang this morning to ask where my speed boost was. The lady was confused as to what I was talking about. She said she’s added the speed boost to my account. Checked my account, it hasn’t been done. Reset my router and checked the sync speed, it hasn’t been done.

Can someone please help.

I know I'm inside the two week line monitoring period and accept that things can change during this period. My problem is this. When I do a speed test on my fairly  new (less than 12 months old ) Dell inspiron. I get about 8 Mbs well below the expected 38 I'm paying for. When I carry out a speed test on my aged laptop (must be 10+ years) I get speeds in the mid 20s. This is with them sitting beside one another on the same desk. Any ideas would help. I have tried using other network connectors and changing from 2.4 Ghz to 5 Ghz. Stupidly I blamed this on TalkTalk but clearly not their fault.

WiFi Hub Woes

WiFi Hub Woes.

Have had the new WiFi Hub Since September 2018. For the first 11 months it worked perfectly but since the middle of August this year it has developed an odd fault which as far as I can tell only affects the 2Ghz Band. I have the SSID split so that I can see and test each band separately. What happens is that the Rate in Mbps drops dramatically at random and sometime for long periods of time. It drops down variably to as low as 5Mbps. When this happens a speedtest will give me a result usually below 3 Mbps!

I have a software widget 'WiFi Signal' which indicates: Channel, Rate (Mbps), Signal%, Noise and SNR which helps me see where the problem is occurring i.e. Connection Speed. These still show good figures even when the problem is occurring, except for the Mbps value.

I have contacted TalkTalk Support on 3 separate occasions about this on 9th September, 7th October and 11th October. Each time the problem was resolved temporarily by the Technician but returned again after a few days. The first time involved a complete 'Factory Reset' of the router because the 2.4Ghz channel had become unusable with a "Network can't be joined" error.

1 only usually have a minimum number of devices using the 2.4Ghz channel and this is because they only support a 2.4Ghz connection.

The suggestion that a replacement router would help diagnose whether the fault was with the router itself or otherwise has been brushed aside on each occasion that I mentioned it.

Has anybody else had a similar experience or can help with resolving this?

Thanks in anticipation.

How to get line moved to a nearer FTTC box

Living fairly rurally, we are not blessed with that many FTTC boxes in our area.  Our current broadband line did get a boost in speed to about 19MBps for faster fibre about 3 years ago when a cabinet was put in some distance away.  However BTOR have now put in another FTTC cabinet much nearer and we understand that there are plans for another nearby FTTC box by the end of the year, from one of our neighbours who has talked to BT.  Not sure if this will be nearer than the other new box.  How do we get our line moved to one of the nearer boxes to benefit from a much better service as I don't think this is done automatically?

Have to restart router every few days to get promised minimum speed

Hello,

Every few days my download speed drops massively.  Upload remains constant around 8Mbps but download drops from around 20-30Mbps to around 3.2Mbps (the reading from the last test).

Promised speed is 24 Mb - 37Mb and the service centre panel says it measured 40Mb today.

Restarting my Huawei HG633 router fixes it for another few days, it's instantly better.

So what could be wrong?

Notes - I'm testing via wifi but I get the same results when plugged into one of the ethernet sockets on the router.  I've disconnected everything (from wifi and ethernet) and get similarly bad results regardless of what one device I connect just to run the test. I think that must mean there's nothing wrong with the cables, wifi or my equipment since restarting the router fixes the speed (which I'm about to do now).

I keep losing broadband/internet connection. Having contacted Talk Talk help I received a new router.

My old router was a D-Link DSL-3782.

The new router I have received and installed is a new WiFi Hub.

I continue to lose my broadband/internet connection frequently. Particularly in the evening. What can be done to remedy this?

Sagemcom WiFi Hub power supply died

Hi,

My upgrade to fibre on 8th Oct. has been working great for 2 weeks but last night the internet stopped working and the LED on the Sagemcom WiFi hub was off. To check if it was a hub or power supply problem I measured the power supply output with a multimeter and got 0 Volts.

I borrowed a similar power supply from another device just to test the hub and with the other supply everything worked correctly again.

Can you please arrange to send me a replacement power supply for the hub.

Thanks.

Rich
