WiFi Hub Woes.
Have had the new WiFi Hub Since September 2018. For the first 11 months it worked perfectly but since the middle of August this year it has developed an odd fault which as far as I can tell only affects the 2Ghz Band. I have the SSID split so that I can see and test each band separately. What happens is that the Rate in Mbps drops dramatically at random and sometime for long periods of time. It drops down variably to as low as 5Mbps. When this happens a speedtest will give me a result usually below 3 Mbps!
I have a software widget 'WiFi Signal' which indicates: Channel, Rate (Mbps), Signal%, Noise and SNR which helps me see where the problem is occurring i.e. Connection Speed. These still show good figures even when the problem is occurring, except for the Mbps value.
I have contacted TalkTalk Support on 3 separate occasions about this on 9th September, 7th October and 11th October. Each time the problem was resolved temporarily by the Technician but returned again after a few days. The first time involved a complete 'Factory Reset' of the router because the 2.4Ghz channel had become unusable with a "Network can't be joined" error.
1 only usually have a minimum number of devices using the 2.4Ghz channel and this is because they only support a 2.4Ghz connection.
The suggestion that a replacement router would help diagnose whether the fault was with the router itself or otherwise has been brushed aside on each occasion that I mentioned it.
Has anybody else had a similar experience or can help with resolving this?
Thanks in anticipation.
