Wifi drop outs

Hi,

 

After having issues with wifi devices not connecting and drop connections to phone's tablets & TV's. I phone for support.

I'd already tested the wired connection and all was fine.

 

The support technician when through a number of tests and confirm that he could see the devices had drop off the wifi network. He then explained it could be an issue with the router and then when off to speak to the network team. Informing me he'd  would have to send a technician to my home to check the router

 

Now as I work in London this would mean me taking a days leaves, so I ask if he could  send me out a replacement router,To which I was told the only the Technician that visited my home would be able to replace the device.

 

Surely this can't be the case? As seems a waste of time on both the TalkTalk tech and me having a day leave?  

 

Please could someone investigate this for me.
