Please can Talktalk exchange my HG633 for a HG653 or whatever your latest router is so I can enjoy the full benefit of Fibre and "superfast" router.
Ever since I installed my HG633 v1.15t router I have been aware of wireless issues. After months of testing using various tools and methods and reading the forum my conclusion is
Maximum real wireless transfer speed is 22Mbps regardless of band, wireless link speeds (tested upto 300 Mbps), signal strength, how close the router is or any settings available to the user. Errors on the wireless statistics page are a very large percentage of data sent/received and are not mitigated by how close the router is, signal strength, or wireless link speed. The speed of transfer is thus being crippled by retransmission of packets forced by errors. There are times when the wireless transfer hangs completely, this is annoying in the middle of a financial/banking transaction. Please note that certain settings e.g. MCU, do not do anything, they are ignored and the router acts as it is in auto. Resetting, rebooting etc do nothing to resolve issues. I have also carefully checked that interference from other networks is not the cause of this slow performance, on 5GHZ there are no other networks in my neighbourhood!
Wireless network transfer to NAS and other home network devices are crippled by this 22Mbps limit, usually I can only transfer or read files at 1.5 - 2.0 Mbytes/sec. This is my main concern.
My VDSL stats are exemplary, Max 40M/2MBps with tons of headroom and ZERO errors.
It is obvious from other users that upgrading to 1.16 or 1.17 makes no difference to this poor wireless performance issue. The HG633 is a flawed design.

Andrew
