Losing connection and speed drop

This started about a week ago, our router will suddenly drop connection to the internet and then reboot itself a couple of times before stablising again. It seems randomly occurring and not dependent on load or connections or anything. Wireless remains stable right through, its just the internet connection.

Its a HG635 router, and now when I log in to it, I get the following info for the connection

Line Quality

Upstream line rate (kbit/s):799
Downstream line rate (kbit/s):22398
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB):12.4
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB):15.2
Upstream interleave depth:0
Downstream interleave depth:0
Line standard:VDSL
Upstream line attenuation (dB):41
Downstream line attenuation (dB):15.2
Upstream output power (dBm):3.3
Downstream output power (dBm):12.6

I don't really understand the attenuation and so on, but our speed both up and down is normally double that, (2000 up, 40000 down), so that to me indicates a problem. Its mainly the stability that is concerning, the speed appears to be a symptom.
