Good evening I was meant to be connected to Ultrafast Fibre Broadband on Friday but although I had the activation e-mail I have the same problem as this thread
Green broadband light is on constant but the internet light is red and remains red. I can see that there is Fibre on the line as all the details are there for superfast fibre. My phone line is fine and I can access the router settings but the router has no information about Wan or DNS servers, the same is true when I connect my laptop,
I have tried a different router and I have tried using goggle DNS settings all to not avail. I get the same result each time with no DNS/ cannot connect to DNNS Server. Talktalk router is connected and running latest firmware. I have reported the problem and been asked to book an engineers visit for which I may be charged. I am concerned by this as the broadband was with talktalk before and working fine until the moment they switched the line over to Fibre. I work from home so this is the 3rd day without internet and I am hoping the problem is going to be resolved quickly. I don't want them to investigate lots of possibilities at the home end if this is the sort of fault that happens in a switch over to Fibre - it seems to be a problem at the exchange. Can anyone advise what I need to tell them when I chase my fault up tomorrow morning.
Thanks for you help
