DSL disconnecting and router rebooting? Customers only.

I felt the need to write this to help customers after constantly seeing people asking the same thing. Basically DSL cutting out every few mins/hours followed by the HG633 router rebooting. The DSL cutting out on it's own could indicate a fault (which is more Openreach's responsiblity), but when the router is rebooting at the same time that's Talk Talk's problem. So far the solutions I was offered was replacing the router 3 times and having 3 Openreach engineer visits (of all who couldn't find a fault). None of this worked.

Solution? Well you can ask the OCE to downgrade you to 1.15 or 1.16. The issue is with 1.20 and 1.21. You can call support.....good luck with that. I found the phone support people lacking training on basic broadband knowleage (one offered me a £60 upgrade to FTTH even though this is only available in York). Or spend money on a new VDSL router. However Talk Talk won't provide support for this. You can debate this but after research the issue is the crappy router. Sadly getting Talk Talk to admit this is proving a problem.

or.....Change ISP. Many are offering better deals than Talk Talk anyway. I changed recently and I've not have any problems since. The connection has been more stable than ever and even got a little more speed out of it. There were no changes made to my line, socket, or internal wiring. I merely plugged in another ISP router when the changeover happened and switched it on. Why does it suddenly work fine now?

Under Ofcom rules if you aren't geting the service you want after 28 days you can leave free of charge at any time. But the issue has to be registered with support.

If enough customers leave maybe they will start actually caring.

Good luck!
