I have a VPN server setup at work, PPTP, and have been accessing it from home for many months. Both work and home are talktalk customers on Fibre. I didn't change anything and it stopped working. I presumed it was the router at home as I could still access the VPN from my mobile and by using my mobile as a hot spot.
I bought a new router, ASUS DSL-AC68U, but it is still the same.
I set the work router, Draytek 2860n, to repond to pings and can successfully ping from my mobile on 4G but not from my home talktalk connection. When I try to ping from my home talktalk connection I get 'Reply from 79.69.57.101: Destination host unreachable.' which leads me to think that talktalk are blocking the connection, but I'm no expert on the infastructure of the talktlak network.
I also thought that it could be that the IP address assigned at work was blacklisted in some way so switched the router off for a couple of hours but the same IP was returned when switching on. I then changed the MAC address of the router and rebooted which resulted in a new IP address but when I got home the same result.
The name of my work connection (i use dyndns) resolves correctly.
I can't think what could have changed so any help sorting out the problem would be appreciated.
