TalkTalk Faster Fibre Broadband is intermittent in bad weather.

We upgraded to TalkTalk Faster Fibre broadband maybe two years ago (?) and it's dawned on me that if we have bad weather (like the heavy rain we're experiencing right now) we keep on losing our broadband connection which my wife needs from 8am till 4pm without any interruption for her job and meetings. She works from local authority databases and needs continual access regardless of what the weather is doing outside. Has anyone else got this problem ?

Fibre Speed Boost not working

Hi folks

I hope all is well. In the last 48 hours I have renewed my TalkTalk contract for a further 18 months after being a customer for over 10 years. I was offered a Speed Boost which provides theoretical speeds of 67mbps down and faster uploads. Previously, I was consistently getting speeds of 38mbps down and around 9mpbs up. Since the speed boost went live, I have been getting the exact same speeds. I have looked at my package on my TalkTalk account and it appears that the speed boost is active as “Fibre Speed Boost”  is written in red underneath “Your flexible broadband boosts” on my account page.

Having had a brief scan of the forum, it appears a fair few others have faced a similar issue. I had a go at restarting my router however this didn’t seem to solve the issue. If anyone could provide some help here it would be most appreciated

Thanks

Abdul

On my old HG633 router it was possible to 'RESTART DSL'.

The option was in Maintain, System Information, Broadband Information.

Is the 'RESTART DSL' function available in the Wi-fi Hub and if so exactly where please, as I can't seem to find it!

I have had a new Faster150 router fitted. This replaced my old router. My old router had a USB connection which my Canon Pixma MG3250 printer was connected to. The new router does not have a USB connector. I have connected the printer to the Ethernet connection using a USB Ethernet adaptor. I can not get my printer to connect to the wi fi. I have followed all the guide lines given by Canon. All my other electronic devices  all connected to my new wi fi. Any suggestions how to get my printer working. Thanks

red light on broadband box once a week.

Hi

about once a week the broadband box has a red light, the internet cuts out, then a couple of minutes later, the lights go green and it starts working again.

I contacted customer support via chat and they ran a line test and at the time of the test they could not find a fault on the line.

Could you health check the broadband and see if anything is causing the service to drop out on a random basis.

Thanks.

DNS setting disabled

Hello!

Having a bit of an issue where my talktalk wifi hub is not letting me change my DNS settings in the DHCP tab. I read that it has been disabled and to use the setting in internet connectivity, however that just sets my routers DNS server.

This would not have been too bad, had I not changed it while using a previous firmware version and now I am stuck using Google's DNS on all my devices. Any way to change this to my own DNS server?

Currently running Firmware version  SG4K10002816t

Thanks

New ip address and I lose connection

Hello

At random times I lose internet and i have to reset my router, it may be a week, 2 weeks or 1 day. If I don't reset the router it takes around 1 hour for the Internet to come back on. This has puzzled me but I now think I know what's going on. I wrote down the ip address and waited until Internet was lost. I then waited until Internet came back and it was a different ip address. I don't now when talktalk issues new ip address but it seems to be random times for me. I have an open reach modem then a dlink wifi router. I thought the router auto change or is there a setting I need to change so it excepts new ip address?

Slow download speed on one pc

All devices in house have fast download speeds, usually around 50mbps. My PC is using a TP Link to connect to the router, however, my download speeds on my PC range from 2mbps to a max of around 12mbps. My upload speed on my PC is fine and averages the same as all other devices. I have already tried using a new TP link, any help would be great.

New to TalkTalk and connection unreliable

Hi,

I am hoping you can help.

I move to TalkTalk approx 3-4 weeks ago from Virgin and I really disappointed with the reliability of the connection.  I am working from home full time at the moment spending most of the day on MS Team calls and I have had so many issues of poor audio and dropped calls, this never used to happen with Virgin and it doesn't happen to my colleagues.  I should also add I am hardwired to the router so it isn't a wifi issue.

Is TalkTalk generally just unreliable or is there a problem with my connection?

Thanks

Paul

Hi,

I've connected my new router up, we're due to switch over tomorrow (16th, currently have contract with talktalk but we're getting a new contract for double the speed)

I ran a service test and apparently I need a firmware upgrade for my router.

I'm new to all this (my first ever broadband contract!) and any help would be appreciated!

Also, I see an option for UI update. How can I do this?

Thanks,

David

Internet down

At around 7am(gmt) Internet went down. Hub started flashing orange.

Did a restart, then a factory reset then a 30 minute power off.

Just turned him back on and still flashing orange.

Could this please be looked into today as since joining talk talk I've had a few issues and I still think that since the engineer first ever came out was never installed properly (as per my first ever thread).

Kind regards

Added.

Just did a service centre check and this returned.

TalkTalk update: We found a problem between the exchange and your home, and booked an Openreach engineer to fix the fault within the next 2-3 working days. There is no charge to you and you do not need to be at home. We'll update you when it's resolved.

Phone working ok, router normal white light. Connection says I am connected but with no internet. It was fine earlier this morning. Nothing has changed in the house with the physical connections. Could it be a local fault?

Wifi

Think I may have a Wifi problem, the Youtube channel, which I watch a lot on my Smart TV freezes regularly, some tv channels occasionally, Radio 4 on Deezer on my iPhone cuts out regularly and more recently Facetime on my iPhone cuts out each time I speak to my son, having to recall several times each call. Line reprofiling and port reset has been suggested, but being a dinasaur I am not familiar with such matters. Could someone advise.

HG633 White List problem

Hi, a couple of years ago I reported a problem with adding new devices to the White List of our HG633. The original query and responses can be found here in the Archive. Subsequent firmware updates did not resolve the problem and we had to resort to dispensing with the White List, which is unsatisfactory.

We are now in the process of recontracting and considering an upgrade to the Sagem 5364 but would like to know if the above issue with the HG633 has been addressed and resolved by the firmware of the Sagem 5364?

Thank you

Rubbish Faster fibre 150

I invested in faster fibre 150. Installed fine but chap from open reach installed an ugly 90s looking box under my TalkTalk router - apparently TalkTalk don’t invest in a router that can connect directly. He said they sometimes cause issues but mine worked fine - at first.  Now I can’t get more than 35mbps, sometimes only 18, although there is 160mbps arriving at the open reach router. Of course I can’t actually get through to anyone at talk talk as it just diverts to an automated response telling me that it is all working fine, which it isn’t. And no, there is no issues with my set up. I bet I’m not the only one having the same issues with TalkTalk failing to upgrade their routers? I even bought mine it didn’t come free with a package - that is the thanks you get for being with them for 8 years. Roll on the end of the contract now that I can keep my email address and move ISP. In the meantime anyone got any tips on how to resolve it?
