Fast Fibre + Boost: high packet loss and duplicate packets
Hi, since I switched from broadband to fast fibre boost, I started having intermittent connection freezes. I noticed these freezes occur mostly when I see bursts of duplicate packets and a high packet loss of >5%. This is the usual output when I ping a highly available internet host from a console:
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1283 ttl=118 time=21.5 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1283 ttl=118 time=22.2 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1285 ttl=118 time=6.65 ms
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1285 ttl=118 time=7.23 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1286 ttl=118 time=10.8 ms
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1290 ttl=118 time=7.38 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from xxxxx-xx-xx.xxxxx.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx): icmp_seq=1290 ttl=118 time=10.1 ms (DUP!)
The Talktalk router is connected directly to the OpenReach master socket, my computer is in a healthy state (normal CPU/Memory usage) and connected directly to the router with a 1.5 meter network cable. The issue happens as well with other cables and for all other devices connected via WIFI.
A BrightSparks engineer came and said he could see an issue outside of the building, I should wait a few days and all should be good again. Unfortunately it didn't get any better. Then an OpenReach engineer came, changed a cable and installed a new master socket. Still the same problem.
The other two flats on my level have Sky fibre and never experienced this kind of issue. Needless to say that I was countless times on a chat with talktalk technicians and tried everything they recommended (removing the NTE5C plate and connect the microfilter cable directly, change microfilter, etc). I added a screenshot which shows the incoming data flow (blue) totally breaking down for a few seconds, and then recovering. The connection breakdown coincides with the duplicate packets and high packet loss (sometimes even >40% in a 5 mins time frame).
Restarting the router often improves the packet loss and duplicate packets, which is enough to get a friction-less connection for some time, but this is definitely not the final solution.
The Boost was not activated immediately and I don't recall of any issues prior to the activation (with broadband or fast fibre without boost).
Is there anyone else experiencing this issue or anyone who was able to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
Capped Upload speed
Since moving over to GFast my upload speed seems to be capped at 29Mbps. Im sure that i used to get around 40+ when on regular fibre?
Is there a cap on the upload speed? I realise the download is capped at 'Fast 150'.
Thanks
Help! There is lots of lag on the XBox.....anyone any ideas? Thank you
Terrible lagging on the XBox, anyone any ideas? Thank you
Faster Fibre with Speed Boost
I signed up to Faster Fibre with Speed Boost

Faster Fibre -- "no internet, secured" issue on laptops
Anyone else have this issue (see screenshot). Every 4-5 days we lose internet connection for about 24 hours (says "no internet, secured"), but seemingly only on our two laptops, smart phones seems to have internet. So there is clearly a connection, but some kind of filter issue on laptops from TalkTalk. Have tried resetting router each time, etc, but then randomly I will come back and start working again out of blue - makes me think to do with TalkTalk filer rather than laptop. Very odd but also frustrating when working from home! Anyone else have this issue and solution? Thanks
Weak signal on Fibre router
Fibre signal is poor on both of my security cameras and my central heating control system. The latter goes from no signal to one dot, seldom even reaching the first curved bar.
TBH I don't think that the new router is any better than the old one.
I see no reason why I should have to pay £85 for an extender especially if a significnat improvement cannot be guaranteed.
Any ideas welcome
Thanks
Tony
turn off wifi optimisation
Hi there is it possible to turn off my wifi optimisation, it keeps changing my channel that I manually set, back to the default. It is causing alot of my devices to drop out of connection.
Very slow Faster Fibre connection
Hi all, My faster fibre connection speed has suddenly dropped drastically.
I was previously getting around 22/25Mbps but now it's around 12Mbps.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you solve it.
TIA.
Re: Low Line Stats Again and Noise on the Phone Line
We have same here.
On going to fiber-optic, and sorting other issues, we went from the 10.2 download, 2.6 Upload to the dizzy heights of 17.73d, 3.68u. Super - but short lived!!!
Since then, download has been all over the place, and phoneline clear then constantly crackly. On 16th Oct, as low as 1.19d!
We have yet another engineer re the crackly issue on Monday - let me guess - water in the street collates in the holes where the cable/optic joints are, etc.! blah blah blah
Re the download speed, I'm fully aware that as householders, we constantly get "throttled back" on the service at peak times in areas! OK but 1.19d is farcical! There is a minimum stated on the marketing for their offerings:
Ideal for busy homes that are always online across multiple devices.
Ahem - chance wood bee!
Intend to chase this with engineer and customer support and complaints.
By the way, if you have a company / business line in, Talk Talk are not allowed to throttle back; only for personal accounts!!!
Happy weekend!
p.s. customer support - take note - broadband is used on a Sunday!
Attention OCE - Please turn off wifi optimization on my line - Thanks
Hi,
I believe an OCE can help with this request to turn off wifi optimization. I have the latest router Sagemcom Fast 5364 with latest firmware and I would like to request the disabling of wifi optimization on my line.
I have a wifi analyser and I would like to set my 2.4 and 5Ghz channels myself but find that these channels are being changed under the covers. It appears I need to request the wifi optimization to be turned off. Occasionally getting random wifi dropouts - these are quite rare and I can usually reconnect after a minute or so. However with previous HG633 router, I had zero wifi dropouts. By searching the forum the wifi optimization could be the cause.
Hope you can help!
Cheers.
Faster Fibre Speed Boost activation
Hi,
I spoke to customer service yesterday so I could get the speed boost for average 67mbps speeds and it all went smoothly. I was told it would activate within 24 hrs so I waited and even switched off the router for 30 mins twice to see if it would pull through.
I've done the talktalk speed check multiple times but it never goes above 37.3mbps. I know we're definitely eligible for faster speeds as I've done broadband checks with bt/talktalk/virgin and the faster services i.e. hundreds of mbps, are available.
Anyone got an idea of how to get this speed boost activated please?
Thanks

Router Problems Sagem Fast 5364
This is my second Router with the same problem Router Model Fast 5364 it loses network on Ethernet connection and random wifi devices not all wifi devices though but happens to often i have never had this before with any other router provided by a service provider and wondered if any other talktalk customers have had this as talktalk and bt engineers cant help apart from change the router for another.
does anyone know which routers i can use for there faster fibre service's or how to overcome this problem.
Disconnected
My bill has been paid in full and I’m still not connected it’s been all weekend how long does this take
Moving to TT FROM Virgin
We have an engineer booked for installation of a fibre package, but I was just wondering if TT will install their own cable or can they somehow adapt the Virgin cable which is already installed and running through to the different rooms?
Thanks 😊

G.Fast availability?
Hello!
Apologies if this is the wrong space for this query.
I recently moved house, but only 200m down the road. At my last property, I got an email a couple of months ago to say Faster 150 Fibre was available.
Now I've moved, it's not available here. I appreciate it depends on the cabinet and distances and probably a few other factors I'm not even aware of, though an Openreach engineer said my cabinet is G.Fast enabled and is about 270m (I think) away, so he thought I should meet the requirements for it.
Is it possible that Faster 150 Fibre is theoretically possible, but for whatever reason, it's not showing as available?
Thanks,
Stuart
Removing Faster 300 Fibre Speed Boost
Hi,
Some time ago, you upgraded my account to Faster Fibre 300 for me.
However, I don't think I really need this much data, at the moment I would prefer to save the expense, as 150 is fast enough for me.
Is it possible for someone to downgrade my package again?
Thanks,
Jeff
