Wifi hub

Hi OCE

I have the Wifi hub which has been working fine. But I ran over the wire with the wheel of chair and the plug wire connecting to hub got frayed. Have taped it but don't want it shorting in future.

Is there a spare plug wire available for the hub?

Many thanks

Hello.  I have zero internet.  I am due to move to Plusnet on the 27th but as of this morning I appear to have been disconnected by TalkTalk.  I am also unable to log into 'My Account'.

I have had no internet since my contact commenced on 2nd September and every time I contact TalkTalk I have to do the same processes every time to end up still with no internet. Very disappointed. I still have no internet after spend nearly 90 minutes chatting with a lovely agent.

Amber light on router, tried turning it off for 20 minutes with no luck. Ran line test and saying there is a problem between main switch and our home, open reach will fix it in 2-3 days. Is there anything else we can try in the mean time? Both of us at home rely on broadband for work...

Fibre to the Premises - FTTP - When will it be offered to existing customers?

Hi there,

Is it possible for existing customers to receive FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) internet yet?

The Covid situation has my entire family working from home and, like many families, we're pushing out broadband to the limit.

We'd like to get the best speeds possible and believe FTTP would provide this.

The most recent information I could find was in this post https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Fibre-to-the-premises-FTTP-community-scheme/m-p/2595736#M281217

Is there a more recent update? Furthermore, will TalkTalk customers on existing contracts have their fees grandfathered into FTTP?

Thanks in advance, I hope you're doing okay in 2020 👍

Sincerely,

Andy

Faster fibre slow only 2mb

Been with talktalk for several years never had a problem. Till this last few months the speed as dropped off. My minimum speed guaranteed is 21mb only been getting 2mb. Tried the chat line twice
on for over an hour both times. They would not believe me when I said I never switch the router off. I did once for the 20 minute test made no difference. The second time had me checking connection which I did.

My service centre says

Your Usage

Line length limits your speed. It may become an issue if your usage of 177 Gb increases

Slow and erratic speeds

Hello.
I have been a TalkTalk customer for many years. I was a member of the community but after three attempts to revive my password I gave up and re-registered. A tad annoying but no big deal.
Very annoying however is the less than perfect service from my new Faster 150 Fibre.
I have left the settling in period weeks ago hoping that things would calm down. But sadly no.
Using the BT Wholesale speed checker I get less than the minimum 100 mbps frequently. Down to 20 sometimes. I completely understand that speeds can be variable and all the other issues that go with it such as internal wiring and being near fridges etc. But I could really do with someone taking a look at it. I did a connection test on the TalkTalk service page (?) and it said it was underperforming (66mbps).
Homework is not working for me.
Thanks.

Download has reduced from 35Mbps when started in 2/20 to 20Mbps now

When I changed over to Faster Fibre in Feb 20 I was promised "Your minimum guaranteed download speed is 35.0  Mbps. If your actual speed falls below this please contact us and we will attempt to improve the speed. If we cannot do this within 30 days you can leave your contract without penalty."

It was around 32Mbps when it started but has reduced and reduced to an average of anything from 20-24Mbps and sometimes even lower. Nothing in the setup has changed and I have consistently used the same speedtest links. I've left this for months as I couldn't be bothered chasing it up but now it's irking me as it's nowhere near the promised speed. I've rebooted the router several times this last week to see what effect it had. No, I do not have another router I can test it with.

Be grateful for any help. Ta.

May need a new router

Recently, I moved flat and brought my fibre broadband with me, which works. As it's the router from the previous address, I'm wondering if I'm supposed to have a new router?

I believe I started a new contract from the new address and thought a new router was arranged to be delivered.

When checking the service status in my account online, in Your Router section, it says "We have not been able to identify your router or its software version"

I'm hard of hearing and find it difficult over the phone if need to get in touch with me 🙂

Hello, can anyone help please? my sister is moving into sheltered housing on Wednesday and needs a phone, however she has been advised that TalkTalk can only stop her service in her current address on the 23rd and restart on 29th.   She was offered and accepted the property quickly and is hoping she could have her internet swapped quicker than 6 days,

Keep having to restart router

I have the latest router but doesn't seem much good as I have to restart it more & more often to get the internet working again after I fail to get a connection or at least any bandwidth (connection shows up & light stays white)

Don't want to restart every 2/3 days, just leave on. What could be wrong?

unable to verify the printer on your network

Good evening,

Today I have had my new router installed, we used to have Virgin. Now, my HP Envy 110 printer won't work. It will connect to the network, but my Mac will not recognise it. I have deleted it and tried to add it, but I get the message "unable to verify the printer on your network".  When I go to my talk talk router, I can see the printer is on the 2.4 Band. Will this make any difference? Can I change it to the 5? I am completely lost and losing my patience. Wish I had never moved from Virgin. I need my printer for work and now I can not print anything! Please, any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Broadband Speed

My broadband speed is down to 20Mbs and I am paying for fibre. Of course, there is no fibre optic line coming into my house, its just a phone line. I was guaranteed 35Mbs by the sales people whom I took it out with a couple of years ago, but its never reached that as far as I remember. I spoke to TalkTalk online and the service lady had me doing all the checks, undoing the OpenReach terminal with a screwdriver and messing around with things as if I was there employee, I was most annoyed as I am paying them to provide me with my 35, it is their duty, not mine to sort out. Anyway, they said it was an old modem and sent me a new one, I have installed it, reset my computers and phone for it, my son has also reset his phone and computer. I have changed the administration password etc, now, after all that work its going great except the internet speed is exactly the same. Even though she said it would only take a few minutes to sort out, its been a lot of work for nothing. I don't want to phone them again, because I think they will run me around in another pointless time-consuming circle, and I found it quite stressful. When I do the online test, they e-mail me to say there is nothing wrong with my line. Can you please advise how I can get this sorted?

How to connect CCTV to HG633 router

I have a Floureon camera system and Hard drive currently connected to a TV upstairs by HDMI (where I used to have my office).

Ive now had to move my office downstairs and I want to be able to check the cameras on my computer which is connected to the HG633 router.

I have run an ethernet cable from the DVR to a Cisco Network switch and then to the router.  The switches lights are both on and flickering and in the LAN settings for the router it shows the LAN as connected at 100MBPS.

I sort of hoped the connection would set itself but Im afraid im at the limit of my knowledge. Does anyone have a step by step guide they could point me at to enable me to set the Router up and if necessary the DVR.  Im OK at following instructions but just not very familiar with all the terms used.  Thanks in advance.

Faster 150 Fibre offer - worth it?

$

Hi folk's,

Had an email from TT today offering me Faster 150 Fibre and was wondering if it would be worth trying?

The thing is, my current Fibre with Speed Boost speeds have never quite got up to the minimum guaranteed speed TT gave me (53Mbps). Even after much investigation by Openreach.

What hope do I have that Faster 150 will live up to expectations?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers, Beanz 🙂

Regular internet dropouts.. dns errors?

$

Ok so the last week or so my Internet has been playing up!..

The router decides to stop most of my devices working, either through WiFi or ethernet.. half the family complain the Internet is broken, while if streaming YouTube etc, that continues to work fine until the stream has finished, then that device gets disconnected..

I have to restart the router, and all is fine.. unfortunately its getting more frequent, I had to restart the router four times yesterday.. the white status led stays constant throughout on the dashboard, it say its still connected with good up/download speeds..

The router logs do show loads of dns resolution errors?..

The router firmware is SG4K10002816t.. not sure how current this is or if its a recent upgrade thats now causing the issues..

Any ideas?..
